Bummer about the breakup, that stuff is always hard -- I don't know yet what it's like as a parent to watch, but it sounds painful.

I got a bonus and a promotion Monday!! YEA!!! I am transitioning into being the bosses assistant as *assistant to Dept 20 ED*. Dept 20 stands for legal. So at our meeting Monday she made the announcement and for now the first part of the transition is that I am now the *team leader/project coordinator*. In other words, I keep up with everyone's projects, keep them on task and make sure I am informed as to what is going on with the projects and be able to report to the boss when asked. Have I mentioned I love this job??? I wish I could talk about what is going on, because it is all very exciting. I have to think of a way to explain without giving away anything relevant to the *thing* that is going on. I can say we are entering the political arena and that there is a luncheon happening soon with the boss, a couple of senators and a few of our competitors Big Guys/Gals. The industry I am working in will be forever changed by the outcome of one of our projects. This is soooooooooooo kewl! I will hate it if the outcome is bad as I will be looking for work, but to have this on my resume, and the experience in corporate that I am gaining, is just freakin awesome!!

Wow Muffie! What great news - it didn't take you long to impress the new employers with your superior legal mind. Your job sounds way interesting. I'm hoping the outcome of your top secret project goes the way you would like and you don't need to be putting that resume to work. Congrats on a job well done!!!

I actually completed Firm Cardio Blast! I'm not even sore today. Well maybe just a little. Not bad for an old broad. I think I'll do the 2 mile walk w/ Leslie Sansone today. We're planning a February cruise so I have swimsuit incentive. Argh. I'm having a harder time w/ my eating. Not bad, just not good. Which means I'm staying the same weight.

Would somebody please come here and talk about something interesting??? I'm sick of my own blather.

I also listened to 12 minutes of The Devil Wears Prada -- enough to know I wouldn't want to read the book. Somehow living someone else's nightmare isn't very entertaining.

Kiwi! you find the best websites! I'm going to put a hold on The Secret Life of Bees at the library. The first part of it sounded like it would be a really good book. I also discovered the world of large type books at the library. Why bother with those reading glasses when you can get books with huge type? Does this mean I'm getting old? You betcha!

I did my Leslie Sansone 2 mile walk yesterday. Where's my pat on the back?

Is anyone Christmas shopping yet? I'm thinking of buying DH one of those TIVO type digital tv recorders.

Why is it that when you find the perfect pants at Old Navy on sale for $10 off, that they're out of "short" length and it costs $9 to get them hemmed at the cleaners? This seems to be the law of the universe. And do you think it's tacky to ask for a large latte when you're using your buy 10 get one free coffee card, and the first 10 have been small lattes? Or do you think that after an investment of $23.00 plus tips for lattes I deserve the big one? Somebody better come post or I'll just keep driveling on. ........

Secret Life of Bees is very good. My mother assigned it to our whole family. Excellent.

I'm reading 2 library books at the moment. One of those really lightweight mysteries about cats -- by Rita Mae Brown and her cat Sneaky Pie. It's so lightweight I find myself forgetting I was reading it and leave to do something else.... The other book is a good bit better. It's called Officer Friendly; a collection of short stories by a Maine author mostly about a coastal community in Maine. Very provocative, but quick reads.

My hands are frozen -- I'm having a lot of trouble typing. Our power went out about 8:30 this morning and didn't come back on until about an hour ago. It wasn't too bad earlier; I just took a long nap, then drove into town and did some errands. Since the power still wasn't on then, I hauled out the campstove and heated up some coffee, cuddled up on the couch to read before it got dark. By the time the power came back on, the temperature in the house had gone well below 60°. Of course, it's heating back up, but my hands are stiff as dead squirrels. Ever try to type with dead squirrels?

Going out tonight to celebrate a couple of birthdays (mine included). Planning to bend my elbow a few times. Tomorrow have to drive to Othertown to pick up DD after the pep band plays for the big Regional Playoff football game. Othertown is also where her guitar lessons are, and she's going to have a lesson after the game. We just squeeze in everything we can, don't we? Then I have to make chili for dinner on Sunday at the in-laws, where we will celebrate a few more birthdays.

My mil has informed me that she has my b'day present and suggested that if it needs hemming, xxx can hem it. What on earth could need hemming? If it were pants, wouldn't she have said "they" might need hemming? I'm afraid she has bought me a dress. I never know what to expect. The odds aren't good though that I will love it. What I usually do if I don't like it is to say that it doesn't quite fit, and maybe I can exchange it for something else. I find it all very uncomfortable. She's such a nice person, I really don't want to hurt her feelings. Oh well.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. By the way, I don't think I've lost any weight on my first week of "Fab by Feb", but I went the whole week not eating anything after midnight or so, and got a few miles of walking in. This week I've got to move up my Last Snack Hour and get more exercise. Someday maybe I'll diet.
