  • emaline29, you are an inspiration to me! I may only be 50, but with my weight & health issues there are some days I feel older than the hills. Reading posts from people like you make me realize I can't give up. Sure, I may never wear a bikini again or hike to the top of Mt. Lassen here in northern CA, but I should do what I can to live as long & as healthy as I can.
My mom will be 85 in August & she has never had a weight problem, even after having 7 kids! She encourages me, but she doesn't know how it feels to be 100+ lbs. overweight. She loves me as I am, but she doesn't know how it feels to feel so out of control around food. She is a beautiful woman, but she doesn't know what it is like to have people judge her for being obese.
To see anyone the age of you 2 ladies, you & my mom, being active as your body allows & making healthy choices gives me hope & inspiration! It tells me, I can do it too! I can't make excuses! You have 3 decades on me! What do I have to whine about? Not a whole lot! So I will continue to get up early in the AM to walk. I will continue to eat healthy. I will continue to do my best to live better so I, too, may see 80 or whatever the powers that be have in store for me!

So in my eyes, you are NOT wasting your time. You are striking a path for younger people with weight issues to follow. You are taking away their reasons for not trying. For that, THANK YOU!!

Thankyou very much for those heartwarming comments Mrs T.. that has really made my day knowing that my efforts have encouraged you to try to get as fit and healthy as you can.

One thing I would mention to you is that at your age the pounds will still be fairly easy to shift but the older we get the harder it is to shake them off especially as it may be that we tend to get all those ailments that older folk do which in turn means meds that will interfere with our metabolic rate and make it even more harder!

All the very best to you in your endeavours..

  • Yup, I know that! That is why I'm working on that now! It just took almost a year to find out what was wrong with my health, correct it, re-cooperate/heal & then find the right combinations of medications to handle the menopause it threw me into. It was not pretty. Except pretty stressful! But that is behind me, only working on getting healthier is ahead of me!

BTW I also love that you aren't afraid of technology!! My mom, bless her heart, thinks technology topped out at the VHS! But I still love her just as she is!!
  • You go Emaline! A phrase I heard a long time ago is "All you can do is all you can do, and all you can do is enough!"

At your age and physical condition, I would just hope to have the courage to even consider what you have accomplished.
