    Hi! My name's Hanna. I'm new here. I have been reading the forums for quite some time now - specially since I started the South Beach diet around a month and half back. I lost almost 8-9 pounds in the first 4 weeks but with Labor day weekend and my birthday last weekend, I ended up gaining almost 5 pounds back and thats gotten me really down. I thought I could use the support and hence here I am! My goal is to reach the weight I've been all my life (54kgs/120 lbs). I have a mini goal to reach 135 lbs(which would ideally be 140lbs, but I know its too much for the time period!) by December. I could use any advice or support anyone has to offer. I'm thinking of restarting with my South Beach Phase 1 for 2 weeks and carry on Phase 2 from then on till I reach my goal. I'm so upset with the weight gain from last week , I could really use a push to get started. Thanks guys!
  • Hey sbgirl5 welcome! You could definitely start with Phase 1 again; frankly, I eat Phase 1 most of the time except when I cheat :-). The more I read about carbs and sugar, the less I am convinced I need them at all through grains and even fruit, but that's just me. I eat lots and lots of veggies instead. That weight you gained back might be water and might come off pretty quickly once you start Phase 1 again. Good luck to you, and check out the on plan thread for ideas, etc.

    There's lots of support here! I have found my best success with a daily check in. It's been working for me for over 5 years now. We have two threads that easily accommodate a daily check in.....our Daily Chat and Weekly OP thread. Feel free to use either, or both, and ask questions...post meals....it's any way you want. I check in on the daily thread....I've found it works best for me.

  • Thanks guys! It feels so good to have support. I am already down 1 pound today and I'm really happy about it. I think the support here and the scale tipping my way is just further motivation to keep going at it. I look forward to using the daily check in thread!
  • hey all, I am starting the SBD again, why I go off from it is beyond me. Stress is huge, and when I am stressed, I like a glass of wine, then all down hill from there... So, this is my new attempt, and to help me along I have bought the book The beck diet solution. So far what I have read screams my name, so I am hopeful that I can change my way of thinking...
    So this morning I am 186.2. diet starts tomorrow..
  • Hi Carmie48! Welcome and best of luck. I'm just (very belatedly) discovering that I'm a stress eater. I've gotten into "You had a horrible day and you deserve a Treat" mindset that I'm determined to break.
  • Well, I'm "on the Beach"! I've already finished 1 week in Phase 1. I am using up some of the high protein products that I did with and Ideal Protein-like program... I gave that up when my hair started falling out; can't be a good sign of healthy eating! Trolling the boards and threads for recipes and new ideas for foodstuffs to keep me interested. Thanks for all the support, peeps!

    Congratulations on finishing a week of Phase 1. There's a weekly thread where people post their menus, if you'd like to join in there, and also a daily chat thread. Also, please post any questions you may have! The board may seem a bit quiet now, but there are a lot of very friendly people her who'll be happy to help.
