Personal Weight Loss Rules?

                  • Some rules for myself right now as I am just re-starting my journey for the last time are:

                    1.) Listen to your body, it will tell you what to do.
                    2.) Ask myself why I want to eat, is it because I'm hungry or something else. If it's something else, deal with the emotion in another way.
                    3.) Take control of the things you can and accept the things you can't.
                    4.) Small, consistent steps. It's a marathon, not a sprint.
                    5.) Expect the failures, because there will be many mistakes made along the way, but that is what life is, lots of mistakes and we learn from each one as to not repeat them again. This is a learning experience, not a test I have to pass the first time.
                  • Eat veggies. Lots.
                  • haven't read through all of these but these are some of mine:

                    - log what I eat every day
                    - log my weight often
                    - exercise on weekday mornings (and sometimes on the weekends)
                    - make healthy food choices most of the time (I know I wont be perfect!)
                    - for ME personally, eat what i'm craving because this prevents a wild overeating of it later when I finally cave
                    - eat what I WANT to eat, not necessarily what i'm serving the family for dinner
                    - eat when i'm hungry, not when the clock dictates I should eat
                    - when shopping for snacky things, I buy the family snacks that I hate to eat so I wont be tempted by them

                    I probably have more rules that I follow but maybe not consciously
                  • - Don't bring into the house junk
                    - Count calories, intuitive eating doesn't work
                    - But don't obsess too much, because it can lead to unhealthy relationship with food
                    - Take it one day at a time
                  • - weigh myself every monday
                    - don't bring in anything other than 85% cocoa dark chocolate into the house
                    - make sure i work out 5 times a week
                    - if i want a naughty chocolate, go for it, but only if I've already been to the gym that day
                    - i try on a pair of smaller jeans every sunday morning to see how i'm progressing. i've been 2-3 inches from it fitting for the past 6 weeks so it's been a real wake up call
                    - write down every single thing I've eaten during the day
                    - don't drink anything except for water or sparkling water
