  • Quote: :gasp: NOT EATING?! That sounds terrible.
    I hear ya...!!!

But seriously the only reason I got interested in IF is because I used to be a terrible night time eater... So it was sort of a way for me to say to myself at 8pm "THE KITCHEN IS CLOSED"... lol... and it really helped me to cut out some bad eating habits that I had at night... I mean I use to eat a lot late at night... and I'm so glad it really helped me to break that habit...

And actually, in all honesty I don't think it helped me to lose all that much weight, but I do think it's at least helping me to maintain what I've lost so far... But I'm really flexible with it.... Like even though I don't usually eat breakfast... I would never let it get in the way of my "pre race" eating rituals that I have before a tri or a marathon... I time those down to the minute before an event...lol...
  • Hi All-
I have done the 5/2 fast. I didn't have too much trouble with it once I got past the first few weeks. Now, instead of doing two smaller meals equalling 500 cals (breakfast/dinner) I tried just skipping breakfast and doing dinner only (500 cals).
For me, that is actually easier than eating a small breakfast, which seems to get me hungrier.

Everyone is different, but just wanted to throw in my two cents!
  • I love the 5/2 fast and also the eating window fasting. Not sure which I like better yet, but the nice thing about them is they are easier than monitoring every calorie throughout the day. You just drink tea, lemon water, etc during the day. Hunger pains come but they go within 5-10 mins. I don't feel weak or anything. I find fasting really helps with appetite control also. After the first few weeks, it's really not a big deal at all!
  • I just started the Every Other Day Diet because after losing over 100 lbs with WW a few years ago, I've been struggling with hunger and late night eating on WW. I'm on my 3rd fasting day and I have to say it's much easier for me to not eat at all until late afternoon. I've been having a small snack mid afternoon and then a 400 cal or so dinner with my family. My energy is great and it's such a relief to not have to track everything every day. I've been doing WW since Oct. 2007 and I loved it, but I just couldn't live with the constant hunger I've been experiencing for the past year.
  • Hi Wahoo. I'm a natural IF'er anyway, but I have found that IF really does help in controlling point intake. Also, for myself, I am less starved when I wait to eat around 4 or 5p. I'm then satisfied in the evening and don't end up consuming more points before bed. Glad that it's working out well for you too. My only real issue with it are other people's comments and advice as they can't wrap their heads around fasting of any kind. Ugh.

This is so true. In fact, I haven't even mentioned this to my dh because I've always told him that it's not good for him to not eat all day at work. Umm, I guess I've had a change of heart. I don't think he or my kids even notice that I'm doing this since we all sit down to a regular dinner together.
