I'm getting really iritated with those guys who sell meat from trucks.

Do those exist? Because if they do I think I rather see a truck with those... then all these food trucks that seem to be on every street corner now when I'm out and about on my lunch hour...
  • I see an opportunity.
  • Quote: You mean like the Schwan's people right?

I saw this "No Soliciting" on Pintrest:
The Schwan's people have a well marked truck. These aren't. The Schwan's people sell a variety of stuff. These people sell crappy meat.

    Love the sign.

Those food trucks are different. They are selling food they make onboard.

Did you see the Food Truck Wars on Food Network?
  • I am sorry for the crappy meat people bugging you but this thread has been very entertaining

I know! I didn't realize it would take on a life of its own with all these interpretations. LOL.
  • Quote: I saw a sign on-line somewhere that I keep meaning to make.It said something to the affect of:No soliciting; We have a religion,we love our vaccum,we gave at the office, and my kid is selling the same crap you are.

I'm thinking you could add,our freezer is already stocked to that list
Don't forget to add that you don't need your roof inspected.

I got that a lot last summer.

May I ask a personal question? How are your ducts? LOL
  • I have had this bit of fun with phone solicitors who ignore the fact that I am on the "Do Not Call" list. Say yes to everything (without giving them any personal info of course). Yes, I want my carpet cleaned, yes I would like you to do every room, yes I have a huge house with a lot of rooms, yes I want your super duper fantastic package that does it all... yes I will buy the best you have... etc.

Sometimes they figure it out and hang up on me; otherwise when it comes time to give them my personal info I just say "not really, I'm just wasting your time like you are wasting mine." I was getting these carpet cleaning calls several times a day until I started doing this from "Diane" -- since I started doing this so far I seem to be off of their list.

I've also pretended I am going onto my computer to give them all the personal credit card info and stuff they are asking for, and asking them stupid questions.

Of course you would have to adjust the "play stupid" approach since they are there in person... but something like this might work with the meat truck people too.

I pretend I am not an adult (they normally ask that) and that an adult is not in the house. Normally gets rid of them pronto.

I saw on Pinterest that a very effective way to get rid of those, if you have kids, is to tell your kids that this is Santa talking and hand them the phone.

    Must be soooo awesome!!!!

No one ever solicits me my phone because I only have a cell phone but I would SO let my 2 year old talk to them. "Here honey, mommy's going to the bathroom now. Have fun."
  • Near us, we get siding/windows/roof people. We've had our roof/windows/doors replaced in the last couple years and have no interest in getting our siding replaced yet. They try to schedule free estimates but I say no thank you. They are also often young 'kids' (teens/early 20s) so I feel bad for them that they are trying to earn money but sorry I can't help.

Did we really need to add ducts to the conversation? In combination with meat trucks, ducts seems equally ... dirty.
