  • I know this thread is old, but I just found it so it's new to me!

First off, thank you SOOOOO MUCH to the maintainers that continue to post!!! You are the ones that remind the rest of us that it really is possible to meet our goals!

Secondly- I freaking love the video of this girl hula hooping! I love exercises that are so fun you don't realize they are exercise! And what a great way to get your family involved in your workout! Hula Hooping contests!
  • yay I'm glad to see this thread again! I LOVE hooping!!! it's insanely fun and way harder than it looks! It's really trimmed my waist, whether it's from the hooping or the 40 hard core laughing fits I take per session, I'm not sure
  • Thanks for finding this post smileygirlmel! I don't go back very far in forum backlogs, but I'm glad to have seen this post. Now I will be getting a hula hoop! That girl in the video was definitely an inspiration!!
  • That video is terrific!

I could never succeed at hula hooping as a child, not sure I want to try it again as an adult - though this lady makes it look awesome.
  • I bought a professional hula hoop (weighted and a larger size for me) because it's supposed to be easier. I haven't found that to be the case yet! HA!
  • I took hula hooping classes after seeing this thread at the beginning of the year. It's the size of the hoop that makes the difference. The studio I went to had a BIG hoop that was easy to use. If you're trying hoops out, stand in front of it with the hoop resting on it's side. It should reach to your boobs or just under -- that's what they told me, and what worked for me.

I won a kids' hoop at a Christmas party last year, and it was IMPOSSIBLE for me to hoop with it. The right circumference really makes a difference.
  • When I first started hooping, someone made me one that "would work for me" but she didn't understand I still needed a bigger hoop. I used a heavy large hoop for months, then went to a 50"+ 160 PSI hoop for months. I think I am about at a 44"-42" 160 PSI.
