I like it but not enough to buy it! Frankly I don't know how you all afford all these things!

Electronics-wise, I have a Mac laptop, a iPod, a point-and-shoot camera, and dumphone. That's right - I don't even have a smartphone! My husband had a smartphone until I washed it a few weeks ago (oops) and will replace it soon. He also has a laptop, a desktop, an iPod, and we recently bought an old-model Kindle (and by bought I mean ordered from amazon for free). Oh, and we have a bunch of gaming systems, but they are all rather older.

I guess I just don't see the point in buying devices that replicate the abilities of devices I already own. I'm like, always with my laptop so I don't really need internet access on a more smaller device. I replace things when they wear out and that's about it! I will likely upgrade to a smartphone in the next year as my six-year-old dumbphone is about to eat it, but that's mostly because I guess I feel I should have one by now. Not a very good reason.

I have an iPhone, an iPad and a laptop, and couldn't live without any of them! We have a PS3 as well, but I could care less about that. lol

I've got a laptop, iPod, and smartphone. I don't use apps and internet to call or text, so I don't know why I'm paying for it. I couldn't live without my iPod on the go, but I much prefer vinyl - however I realize how unrealistic that is, considering I have a huge collection on my iPod but vinyl goes on average 20 dollars an album these days. Obviously, I make good use of my laptop. On the whole, I'm not really impressed with most modern technology. At the risk of sounding like a hypocrite, I agree with the fact that for a lot of us it really kind of replaces the real social life and that's very sad to me. As convenient as it is, I often find myself wishing I could go back to the green screened computers only good for floppy disk games and the corded phones of my childhood haha.

I love technology but not to the point that I have to have every type of new gizmo and gadget there is to offer I love what technology does for us everyday.

I have a laptop, ipod x2, PSP. That being said all are second hand, and desperately need updating. But I want new running shoes first.

I have a career as a software developer, so yes, I suppose I'm techy. I guess my favorite toy today is a new work i7 laptop. That changes daily though with my mood.

I do like and have multiple Apple products and as I have Apple stock, I fully support this thread promoting tech!

I don't even want to think about the actual number of computers, laptops, iPads, iPhones, iPods, and not to mention the flat screens and dvr's and wii's and Xbox's lying around this house...

I'm actually taking a little "tech" break this week (well, except for the fact that I'm typing this on a iPad right now...) but I actually picked up a real, physical book the other day and read it... and to my surprise, I actually enjoyed it... So I'm considering doing it again... Before another few years go by...

Not to long ago I came across a diet that only allowed as much time watching tv or using the computer as you exercised that day.... So one hour of exercise, then one hour of tv or computer... No exercise.... Well you get the picture....

Sometimes I really think this explosion of tech is one reason we are all getting so fat.... Overly simplistic maybe.... But maybe not...?

It plays a part. A study was done and people playing video games felt hungry as if they had been exercising.

I agree completely! Many of us (myself included) are guilty of spending way too much time sitting around on the internet, watching tv, playing video games, etc. Honestly, as much as I adore my laptop, looking back I didn't gain the majority of my weight until I had one of my own - before that we had to share one computer, which meant much less time on it and finding other (physical) ways of entertaining myself. Those were the days

Technology is awesome! -no doubt about that! - but I try not to fall into the "gotta have it!" line of thinking (like I do with food, LOL).

We don't have a land-line phone, we don't have Sirius radio in our cars, we don't even bluetooth with our cells. And we both have "dumb phones" & I like it. I do have some cool ring tones on my phone, and I can take pics or videos with my phone, and I can talk with it, which is so cool. I COULD text with it, but I don't text (I chose to NOT have media on my phone) & so I also don't use it to Facebook or stuff like that & I don't upload pics to my computer, etc. I just like having a pic of my baby-dog on my phone.

I have a Sony E-reader, but haven't read anything off it in over a year (don't know why, just ....dunno! )

I have a nice little HP desktop home computer, that I have all my pictures & music on, & we have wireless, so I have a netbook (note: NOT the same as a laptop!!) that I can check bank account & so forth when I'm downstairs or on the back deck enjoying a glass of wine watching the sunset but I don't store anything on it at all.


We do have two flat screen TVs, a 42" downstairs and a 32" upstairs. We have DirecTV, surround sound system with 5-DVD player downstairs & a single player blu-ray upstairs, and NetFlix -no streaming, just DVDs by mail, & just 1 at a time. That's about it. So, we take advantage of certain aspects of techno-babble items, but most of it, we don't. We don't have a X-box or Wii or anything like that. We don't "game" and we don't twitter, etc. I have Facebook, but my husband doesn't. I don't play any Facebook games or stuff like that.

So yeah, we're not total back-woods hicks, but not techno geeks, either. Guess we're kinda "techno-fuddy-duddies"

While I love technology, I also hate it! I have not fallen into having to have the latest gadget(s). I would rather have a book in hand than a kindle, I don't need or want an iPad, or iPhone or any other gadgets. About the only "gadgets" I have is a laptop and an iPod, lol

Love/hate relationship with my iPad2 - I nearly destroyed my neck with the damn thing because I found out I could do almost everything with it and would spend hours a day hunched over its gloriously clear screen. It has eclipsed my laptop and I am trying to wean myself away from it. No smartphone and I rarely text - texting irritates me but it's a good way to communicate something like "2pm meeting cancelled" or "running 15 min late". My hearing is pretty bad and as I've been told, talking to me on the phone can be frustrating. Therefore, I get few calls. Recently went back to a hardwired landline because it forces me to pay attention to the person I'm talking to.

This thread has turned interesting..lol I do love technology I love that it makes life faster and easier (mind you not always good things) but I also refuse to give up the slower pace of the landline phone, plain ol' cable tv and am/fm radio...I dont understand people who stand in line for 4-6 days for a new iPhone...OMG I am thinking these people are absolutely nuts! But then again I wouldnt stand in line for most anything..lol

I got interested in drawing again when I got my first digital camera and realized I could share my work online. When I got positive feedback I worked hard to improve and found new places to post. Some dude over in another state liked my drawings and started chatting with me. We became best friends over time, even though I didn't know his real name and barely knew what he looked like.

From our early chats to eventually falling in love, our entire relationship relied on technology. We communicated entirely through technology, and didn't meet face to face until after three months of IM's, phone calls, video chats, and text messages.

So yeah, we both love technology. I eventually moved out to his state and we eventually got married. And we still love technology, but it's nice that we no longer have to rely on it in order to be together.
