  • Hurrah for rescues! I have a husky-corgi 2-year-old who is... amazing. I just love her and love her and love her!

I hope your partner will *also* come to love the newcomer, and congrats on your biggest-loserness!!
  • Quote: hahaha, I just love the way you said that!
My Sophie was like that for about two years, but she was the gentlest, most loving puppy I've ever known after that "puppy phase". Yours will get there too!
  • Quote: I totally agree. We lost our golden, Sophie, on May 30, 2011 - thus the arguement on whether or not to get a puppy. I would love to get another golden, but we are getting older and goldens are big dogs - a little too much for us to handle now.

BTW thanks to everyone for the kind comments!
If you or your partner is home during the day, you should get a keeshond. They are the most loving, loyal, sweetest dogs. I had one growing up and she was just a doll. They are one-owner dogs, and they can get really bad anxiety if left alone all day, and pretty much need someone to be home all day. They're about 30 lbs for females. They do require some exercise, as they can get a little fat (Smokey was a little chubchub but not overweight) if not walked every day.

Or there's always Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, who are basically lap dogs and bred to just be with you. I wanted one of those but my husband wanted a bigger dog so we got Bandit and couldn't be happier.
