  • I used to be on Medifast before the prices went so high (and it was expensive to begin with!) I have some older packets I am using for some meals. If you watch the sales on dietdirect you can get Wonderslim and Bariwise cheaper, which I also did. Another idea is to look on Craigslist or find a friend or co-worker who has some Medifast or Wonderslim they tried but did not end up using. I got a whole bag of items very cheap from someone who was done with the diet but had food left over. Also I have found some shakes at Costco, Premier Protein ready to drink in a carton, that have high protein and lower carbs than Medifast. So between those things, I am using all of those items to do the Medifast 5 and 1 plan. I just choose 5 of those foods each day, about 3 hours apart, and then cook my own "Lean and Green" meal by Medifast standards (you can find it online, but basically it is 5-7 oz of lean plain meat, and 3 servings of low carb vegetables. Any salad greens 1 serving = 1 cup, and any other vegetables 1 serving = 1/2 cup). I take a multi vitamin too since all my "meals" don't have the vitamins that Medifast has. My doctor also told me I need to have higher calories, to avoid regaining fast and losing hair again, so he set my calories at 1200. On Medifast I was eating 800-900 calories, so I have to add 300-400 calories that have NO carbs, like healthy fats or protein. That is my "cobbled together" plan for 2017! Hope this helps.

I love WonderSlim! I have been using their products in conjunciton with Weight Watchers
  • My plan is working great! I am down 5 pounds in 10 days and don't feel at all deprived.

So what I do is basically, 5 Medifast OR Wonderslim meals a day, spaced out, and a Lean and Green that is a little higher in the protein and fat but not carbs. I also have extras like half and half in my coffee, a slice of lunch meat or cheese if I am hungry, just enough extra to get my calories where my doctor wants me to be. But I add no extra carbs so I stay around 90 grams a day when I double check.

Today for dinner I got this "bacon cheddar mashed cauliflower" in the frozen food aisle of Walmart. One half cup is 90 calories, 6 g carbs, 2 g fiber and 3 g protein. It makes a nice side dish and fits my plan. I had that with some Costco rotisserie chicken breast and it was great! I love this plan because I am not limited to just Medifast meals like when I did it last time. The Wonderslim foods are so good and make a better variety.
  • I like Jenny Craig in the past, but unfortunately can't afford it now.

Has anyone tried either of the diets that I see advertised here today? I'm looking for a cheaper Jenny replacement.

    1. ilovethisdiet.com is an inexpensive plan that uses frozen meals from the supermarket, like a do-it-yourself Jenny Craig or Nutrisystem.

    2. personaltrainerfood.com ships you their food like Jenny Craig does, but it's prices look more affordable. The food pictures on their website look good, but I can't taste the photo!

If anyone's using either one of these plans, please post your opinions. Would I be better off starting a new thread to ask this? I didn't see one specifically about either plan.
