  • I lost 190 pounds in 17 months and never denied myself of going out. I quit drinking when I started my weightloss, because it wasn't doing me any favors, and so I became designated driver. What an amazing feeling it is to never have to worry about how we are going to get home safely.

I also either plan ahead, or just suck it up and order what is within my calorie limit if it's a last minute thing. I guess I was/(still am) "high" on life because of my new body, that food and alcohol totally stopped equalling fun. Fun is laughing, dancing, and feeling in control in a beautiful slim healthy body.
  • Kay I'm a party girl, always will be, I enjoy a good night out with a few drinks. Just because your losing weight doesn't mean you have to give up everything in your life. I am a firm believer of moderation.

Now granted I'm not 20 anymore and I don't do it every weekend like I use to but I do it about every 4-6 weeks. And I have still been able to lose weight. It's really not going overboard with it and keeping an eye on it.

    Here are my tips:

    1) I save up my calories before going out.
    2) I EAT before I go out
    3) I pre drink, but only Skinny Girl Margaritas or Skinny Girl Sangrias (very low in cals and you can still get a great buzz)
    4) While out I do vodka and diet cranberry
    5) If we are out late, and we all grab a bite to eat, I make the best healthiest choice I can and watch portion size.
    6) And I'm not advocating drugs, but I do smoke some green while at the club if I they don't have diet cranberry.

Life is to enjoy, I find if i was to give it up entirely I would over indulge, I would miss it and it's not worth it to me to binge. So I plan ahead and make good choices and it hasn't hurt me yet!
  • I'm another one who saves calories for a night out.

I'll try and save calories where possible, fit in my biking early, and choose the food I'm eating well. There are some days where alcohol calories are worth it to me and some days where they aren't, so I go with how I feel at that point and let that guide me as to how much I'll be drinking.

I also just want to say that while I do go out once or twice a week, I do like to have some alcohol free nights out occasionally, so that's always an option if you feel like giving your liver a rest like I do.
  • @insideme, great advice.. i do all those things. I actually tried the Skinny Girl Margs. They are really good, except I drink Voli light or Belvedere now instead. Goes down smoother and I don't really get hangovers from them.

    Drink in moderation!!
