  • so i'm on my own today and away from home and obviously a bit bored as i decided to see if i could do a handstand against the wall (as you do.....???).

    i can!!! it was fun!!!! so i did some more.
    (should maybe mention at this point that i'm 43 and haven't done this for about 30 years)

    i might see how my shoulders pull up tomorrow and then see if i can try a bit of walking on my hands. I could only ever stagger a couple of steps as a kid, so it would take a fair bit of work to improve on that now i guess!

    Will let you know if i give it a go.

    Not real comfortable with my head being upside down for very long, but maybe you get used to it??

    Anyone else used to be able to do this (or still can?) Any top tips??

    I used to do handstands all the time when I was a teenager, oh and cartwheels... remember cartwheels? They were fun. I haven't tried to do a cartwheel for ages but I did a handstand a few months ago and it wasn't so bad. I do a fair bit of yoga so having my head upside down is not really that strange for me, perhaps you can incorporate some yoga into your fitness routine to help with that?


    I guess you might also need to work on building up shoulder strength and flexibility. For that I would recommend trying Pilates - floor or mat, it doesn't matter as long as you are improving your condition!
