Firesoulx - Thanks for the update and Congratulations on your weight loss!! It sounds like you're doing great. I went to see my endocrinologist and she did some blood work. She is going to call me with the results in a couple of days. She agreed that I probably have PICOS. She said she will decide if she wants to put me on Metformin or on another medicine that is used for blood pressure, but also helps with PICOS (can't remember the name). I've never heard of this medicine before, so I hope it helps.

Lets see I thought I would update my thread. I been on metformin since sept. 2011 and I've since lost 65 lbs. I haven't lost weight in the past couple months though. It's been stagnant. I'm not sure if my body is just in shock or what.

I think I need to re-motivate myself and crack down harder with proper eating and getting on my treadmill daily.

The hair that used to come out on my chin is very thin now, it's still dark but it's not this hard wirey thing that it used to be.
I got on spironolactone and my face stays relatively clear.
However, I noticed since I went on it(it also keeps blood pressure down) I haven't ben losing the weight. I'm thinking it has to do with target heart rate for weight loss. I think it's keeping my heart rate down so essentially making it more difficult for me to lose weight when I do exercise.

I'm going to do a self-test because I am my own personal lab rat and get controlled again with this and stop the spironolactone and see if I can keep losing weight. I missed like 2 days as it is and some of the acne is already back. Kind of annoying but as long as I don't pick at it, I can cover it with makeup okay.

I also finally got a job after being unemployed for 8 months. Ridiculous! But I thought I'd update on how I'm doing and just say metformin does work I think, but it's only a tool. You have to eat low GI (for life) and exercise.

I just been slacking on my exercise and slacking on my eating. I think the metformin keeps me from gaining anything back. I mean I'll put on 5 lbs and treadmill one night and it'll come back off then I'll be stuck back at 210.
So water weight builds on and falls off consistently.

I figure more than half way through the year now. Time to revamp my WOE and WOL. (way of eating, way of life)
Focus on getting healthy emotionally and body.

Quick update I finally broke through my few month plateau. Just stick with it ladies. It's so worth it. I love that XL shirts are often too big. and XL generic exercise pants are too loose.

I FINALLY did it. I broke under 200 today! I haven't been under 200 in 5 years or so. I recently had a sucky breakup, and it shocked me into eating Low GI again. I also moved out on my own, so theres no excuses for bad food in the house.

Breakups are tough, but it must have happened for a reason right? At least that's what we're told to believe at these moments.
Life is different now out on my own.

I'm just so ecstatic to say I made it under 200 for the first time in a long time.

I'm happy to hear that you've found a doctor who was able to diagnose and treat you! That's great news! When I started the Metformin, I lost 50 lbs with no help at all, but I think the side effects of the meds is what caused it. It did help me with the hair growth and my skin was nice and healthy. Keep us posted on how you're doing!

Thanks. I been eating low GI with less exercise and I was able to get under the category of "obese" so now I'm just normal overweight. I'm thrilled I haven't weighed this much in so many years. I hope I continue to lose!

Another follow up. Still on metformin 2000mg XR a day since last September and I have lost now 90 lbs. (almost a year) It's amazing and I suggest anyone that reads this who is questioning metformin, get the extended release from your doctor, put yourself on a low glycemic index way of eating(for life-not a diet), and you will lose weight and feel a world better.

I'm also back on the spironolactone for my skin again and it's clearing me up, but I get a random bad spot here and there along my chin line, usually towards my ears. However, my skin is glowing, it looks so much better.

Don't give up ladies. This disease will not take away our femininity and our confidence!~
