I find with my cardio, I exercise before breakfast. It just works for me that way. Plus, I run really early like 5 a.m. so eating at that hour would seem odd to me. With my strength training and Pilates, I do that at night after my sons are asleep so I do that maybe 2-3 hours after dinner. I think it's totally up to you. The only exception is HIIT which I eat a small sandwich one hour before b/c it's so much more physically taxing on my body to do 20 minutes of sprinting/walking versus just running. I need all the energy I can get, lol. Hope this helps.
I also work out first thing in the morning before I eat. I leave during the week at 4:45AM for the gym. I eat breakfast as soon as I get home. I have found this to work best for me!
