  • That's too funny - that's our first book. I don't know anything about it but have heard so many rave reviews around here and facebook that I suggested it. Maybe we should have an international meeting at a vineyard in-between.
  • Good Morning

    Ruth and Cyndi
to everyone yet to drop in

It was toasty here yesterday but perfect for a long bike ride by the cool Colorado River. I have a basket, took my backpack and lugged all my groceries home. Kirk went to the gym/pool and passed me a block from home on my return. I felt elated to be able to accomplish grocery shopping on my bike.
Today...church and more beadwork. I lugged my stuff to the bead store yesterday afternoon and restrung some broken necklaces and got beads for Kirk's DD's BD. I'm going to finish that project this am so I can put all that stuff away.
  • Coffee: I finally stumbled out of bed this morning.

Ruth and Cyndi, I read The Help, and enjoyed it so much that I was sorry when it ended. Good choice for a book club discussion. Happy reading!

The temps are supposed to start climbing here, and we're in for a very brutal week, but right now it's delightful out here on the patio. I should go out and pick beans before it gets too hot, and there should be 4 or 5 tomatoes ready, too.
Jake relocated 3 of the critters that are feasting on the garden so far, but this morning all the traps are empty. Maybe word is getting out fast, .
We had a nice day yesterday. Monica, Caite, & Carley came out for the afternoon, and we swam and enjoyed a great BBQ from the garden's bounty. Poor Amber is suffering the agonies of swimmer's ear, so they are staying home all weekend.
  • Ruth and Cyndi - We read the Help too and everyone liked it. Good pick. My group is more social than into talking about the books

Twynn - I like the new avatar.

So my boating outing was not as bad as I expected but darn hot! I feel almost hungover today which is ironic considering I was the only one just drinking water. Later today I am meeting up with the other mom's from my old cub scout den to play catch up before our boys head to college next month. This morning I am working on blog maintenance stuff (updates with my host) and my fingers are crossed the tech stuff goes smoothly since I have no idea how to ever fix anything! Basically I am now waiting for whatever mysterious stuff happens behind the scenes and out of my control. We are in a heat warning for the whole week. Sigh.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, all.
  • Hey everyone -
Posting with the best news for me in about - well, ever.

Got home last night from my two week vacation, which of course included buffets (and we are talking Golden Corral here people: ever seen a thin cow near a corral?), ice cream pretty much every other day (no sugar added, but still . . .), seafood in all forms (including fried), and only a one pound addition on the scale this morning. With the exception of the one vacation I endured years ago with my mother where the food was quite literally inedible, I have never had such a great "weight" vacation.

Now, I did run 5 miles three times a week while gone, and I did eat fairly well when not having the specific meals listed above. Best thing was always starting the day with an OP breakfast - veggie omelette or ff greek yogurt. Lunch was usually low-fat meat, cheese, and veggies on ww bread, and snacks of cut veggies, grapes, peaches, hummus. Dinner was whatever I wanted. It was amazing.

This is the greatest way to live.

    I LOVE THE BEACH!!!!!

    Be well -
  • Welcome back, bea! Congrats on your vacation success!
  • Terrific news, Bea. I went to Italy last year for a cooking course and was amazed at the minimal weight ( a single pound) gain when I got back! It feels great, doesn't it?
