  • Quote: I'll admit that I had 3 smalls bites. Felt really ashamed, but then I realized I would have normally eaten a huge slice and I was kinda proud of myself for being able to stop at 3 bites. At least I didn't have to obsess over it anymore.
Sounds like a win to me! Good job!
  • when something is calling my name that I don't like, I tell it I'm not listening. Heehee. You did great. I could have never stopped at 3 bites.
  • To OP - sounds like a success to me!! Great job on the 3 bites.
  • That's great! Don't beat yourself up about 3 bites. It's a thousand times better than denying and then binging later. I have some kind of treat (generally <100 cal) every day, otherwise I would go crazy.
  • Thanks everyone!!!! I definitely feel ok about it. I satisfied my craving without over indulging which is what it's all about right?

That's awesome!!! You just proved that you can have a taste of something without eating the whole thing. You should be super proud of yourself - You could have easily thought "oh well Ive already had a few bites of something bad may aswell have the whole thing!"
  • I had this issue with a meatball sandwich last week. I reached out to the awesomeness that abounds on this message board while it was sitting next to me ready to eat. My 3FC friends told me to sabatoge it with salt, water, whatever. I took it to the kitchen and doused it with half and half creamer. I did admit to having 3 bites of it first but I was happy I reached out.

I am glad you made the decision to reach out here too. Consider us all your sponsors! LOL And eating only 3 bites is perfectly fine because you stopped yourself and that in and of itself is a HUGE accomplishment. Way to go girl!

And you threw the rest out, right?
  • i'm going to be the devil's advocate here. I think if you are obsessing over that cake, maybe you should just eat a small piece. I really think the chocolate cake will sabotage you in the long run if you don't.

*** i forgot to post this earlier , but I see you already conquered your craving. good for you.
  • I guess I'm different than everyone else in this thread, because if I really want a piece of cake, I'm damn well going to have it. I don't buy into deprivation, and for me personally, if I want a piece of cake and deny it to myself, I'll end up eating something else that ends up being MUCH worse for me than if I had just allowed myself a piece of cake in the first place.

*shrug* Obviously everyone's different, and I might be a bad influence, but I say that if you really want a piece of cake and you can stop yourself at a small piece, why torture yourself over it?
  • Honestly??
Cake and cupcakes are the one REAL indulgence I allow myself. I just have a 2 inch by 2 inch piece of cake or a small cupcake (take off some frosting if it is REALLY frosted) and count it as some carbs/fat for dinner. I don't have it a lot, but I find that if it is a really good cake, I will feel so deprived that I'll eat a whole bunch of other food to make up for the craving.
    It's all about balance!!
