  • Heh, that's pretty much the main reason I don't buy Peanut Butter Puffins or Quaker Oats Brown Sugar Oatmeal Squares anymore.

I agree with the others - it's best out of sight and thus out of mind.
  • I no longer buy granola bars or cereal for this reason. It's so addictive!
  • Ahh thanks everyone for the feedback. I think portioning it out sounds like a good idea, especially if other people at home eat it too. But once this cereal's finished I am vowing (well I hope to) not to buy any more.

Last night, slight improvement. My mum helped me portion out one serving and kept the rest for me in the basement. Afterwards I still had the craving for more but thank God I didn't go all the way down and get some more. Thanks again guys!
  • This is my first post! Hope I do it correctly. Anyway, I have/had this issue - always wanted something more. The way I broke it is to sugarless gum (the stronger the better), immediately after eating. The way you get that sweet taste in your mouth. And you don't want anything else while you are chewing gum.
  • This is what you do. Get the box and chuck it in the bin. Instead prepare alternative snacks. Vegetable sticks (mushroom, capsicum, snowpeas, cauliflower, carrot, cucumber) and homemade hummus, minus oil, or greek yoghurt mixed with garlic and parsley.

You also might be restricting your carbs too much, and then crave sugary granola and cereals. In that case try a fruit. Get the cereal and granola out. Replace it with bran, no added sugar with freshfruit, like banana, strawberries.

    Don't know if that'll help.
  • I buy sweet cereal for my girls. They are allowed one small bowl a day. Things like cinnamon toast crunch, cocoa krispies etc...I know they are horrible as far as nutrition but my kiddos eat healthy pretty much the whole rest of the day, so I dont mind letting them have this =)
for me however, like some of you, if I get ONE taste. its over. I end up eating 400-500 calories worth of it, and even AFTER a good sized meal!! So for me, I cant even take ONE taste of it. I really have to have self control when I am dishing it out to them. Its tough!!
  • Oh boy last night was HORRIBLE. I probably ended up eating 1000 calories or more alone in the cereal, and it turned out to be a major overeating fest - thinking since I'd already 'blown it' I ate loads of other stuff I shouldn't have! I have taken it out of the house, everything including cakes and cookies that tempt me.

I was contemplating whether I should weigh this morning. I did. Up by 2 lbs. Overnight? Seriously!!!?
