  • I am a teacher also and understand about conferences, lunch rooms, baby showers, pot lucks, and staff functions. In our school no one seems to want to add diet soda or light dressings to potluck..and keep on with the donuts in the staff room.
I am enjoying being home and focusing on eating well before I start again in August. My plan for success is to bring my own lunches, exercise before work, and to drink diet soda at functions,
  • I am a full time elementary ed major at the university of central florida. I will be starting the second half of my internship in august. I am attempting to get back in shape again before the end of the year. I am looking to get hired in January. I lost 40 pounds in 09/10 then after a year of subbing and being a student I gained almost every pound back. UGH
  • Well, school is back! And, so is the food! But I have to admit that our welcome back luncheon was a little better. We had yogurt with fresh fruit and granola. We also had other choices that weren't so good.

Now to get my head in the right spot. I lost over 10 pounds over the summer and it feels great. I need to stop using food for rewards--really works in kinder, and not buy holiday candy. All in all, I've been successful for two days---188 to go!

  • Keep up the hard work ladies. I start back in a few weeks and I'm sure I'll be all over this board.
  • Ho, hum, back to work I go
    Hello fellow educators!

I went back to work on Tuesday, August 2nd. It has actually been okay because we've went out for lunch. I did have one instance of the group choosing a place that I didn't think was MRC friendly, but I made sound choices.

Tomorrow our principal will be providing breakfast and I spoke with the FACS teacher and she said they will have turkey sausage. I know that I could eat before I leave home like I did this past week, but I'd be sitting there twiddling my thumbs, so it's about socializing too.

I do plan on AVOIDING cafeteria food at all costs - that'll take some planning on my part, but I'll have to do what I must the night before.

Good luck ladies with staying on program during the hectic school year!
