Does anyone else do this...?

  • You are not aloneeee .. LOL I do the same thing, girl. I plann breakfast & lunch. Dinner is up in the air but I usually keep chicken breasts & cold cuts & soup handy. Those are my "go to's"
  • Not only do I do this, but I'm glad I do this.

It helps me pay closer attention to my overall nutrition to base my lunch on my breakfast and my dinner on the previous two meals. I like being able to look over what I've had so far and think, "Hmm, not enough vegetables--stir fry time!" or "Ooh, who has two thumbs and room for mashed potatoes? THIS CHICK!"

This habit has become so ingrained in me that I think I'd actively seek to balance stuff out even if I were no longer paying attention to calories. Hunger matters too, but deciding WHAT to eat to assuage my hunger--that's often a conscious plan based on a combination of what sounds good and what's best for me.
  • Absolutely!! For me it removes the temptation to cheat. I enter my meals for the whole day while I'm having breakfast.

But I do change stuff up if I feel like it, as long as it's roughly in the same calorie range. For example last night, I had planned an ounce of light cheese for an after dinner snack. But I had a really salty day and was feeling like something sweet, so I changed to a peach.

    Knowledge is power!!

  • Planning ahead is the key. I plan all my meals ahead of time. I can alter during the day if necessary as long as I stay within my calorie allowance.
  • I try to do this in such a way that it will eventually become automatic. And I really don't share with anyone except maybe my sister who is more obsessed than I am, LOL.

My MO is to keep breakfast and lunch under 400 each if possible, so I know I have a little wiggle room by dinner. I'm aiming for 1500 calories per day and I know I often go a little over or under, which is ok.

As long as I'm not baking breads or sweets I can deal.
  • I do the same thing.. at least with breakfast and lunch and then I know mostly what's planned for dinner and I can make adjustments as needed. You are not alone!
