  • Quote: On Daily Plate, you can change the drop down under "How Much" to something besides serving. For example, if I enter 1% milk, I can enter "1" and change the drop down to "oz" for "1 oz", and it will calculate it for you.

I switched to Daily Plate from Fitday, too.
I know, but not everything seems to have weight options. Some things just have "servings".
  • I use sparkpeople. It has alot of user entered stuff and a great recipe calculator.

I almost always enter my own custom stuff though. I am far too much of a perfectionist it would drive me crazy thinking it could be wrong lol But the times I have had to look stuff up there it is always been right on.
  • I'm a fitday user and I really like their reports and their tracking. I've been on Dailyplate and Sparkpeople and I just find their sites to be too heavy, too much stuff going on.

But Sparkpeople has the BEST recipe analyzer, in my opinion, better than Calorie Count.

So, I often use the other sites to get food information, but I put everything in Fitday.

The other thing that I've begun to do because I don't think it has to be perfect is that if I know my cottage cheese is 120 calories per serving, I'll pick "cottage cheese" in fitday and even though 1/2 cup is is something like 108 calories, I'll make it 0.75 cup and get the full 120 or whatever.

I have loads of custom foods too and since I tend to eat the same things it works for me.
  • I've used Fitday since I started calorie counting in 2008 - I used it religiously for 4 months then (then stopped altogether) and picked up the habit again in July last year. I've logged everything I've eaten for nearly every single day since then.

I like Fitday just because I live in New Zealand, and as RoseRodent said, a lot of the foods are based on US foods. I probably have over 100 foods, a lot more most likely (I've never counted) in my custom foods list - I probably add something to it at least a few times a week.

I don't like to use generic counts for anything except for things like veges, eggs, and very occasionally something like a bagel if I had it at a restaurant.

I guess the reason I haven't changed to any other counting site is because I can't handle the thought of having to re-input all of those custom foods again!
  • As soon as Fitday PC came out, I left the online one.

By now there's so many custom recipes and things I would be LOATHE to change to another system and start all over!

    A.
  • I use SparkPeople :-)
  • I do really really like the recipe calculator on Sparkpeople!
  • I hated Daily Plate so I just sucked it up and went back to CalorieCount.about.com ~ it was so much better than Daily Plate.
