  • Quote: thanks again kaplods, great advice, I love your 'just one more pound' mantra. You may want to consider copyright before I steal it!
LOL! Feel free to steal it, because I'm sure I did. I know I didn't invent it, because I remember hearing and reading similar advice 30 or more years ago. It just took decades to sink in, I guess.
  • Quote: Like others, I set goals about my behavior rather than about my body's reaction. So my goals are "stay on plan" (weight watchers), "exercise," "track foods," etc. That way I'm in total control of my success!
    This. This, this, this, this.

It's been truly liberating for me to let go of numerical weight goals entirely. Now I no longer have to curse and feel discouraged when I get on the scale and see my weight is up two or three pounds, because of exercise or sleep or dehydration or hormones or just for the **** of it or any of the other myriad factors that cause day-to-day fluctuations. All I have to do is trust my plan and stick to it - and that is completely within my control. The vagaries of the scale, and how fast my body is willing to lose weight, are not within my control.

I highly recommend pinning your goals on what you do - the results will flow from that on their own.
