  • I've seen a lot of people mentioning Zumba, I think I may have to google it! Congrats on the weight loss.

I haven't skipped any exercise yet, but I am dying for TOM to be over& gone. I've realized that I need to go to the gyno, and soon. I've been putting it off for a while, but this cyst/lump/I don't know what it is, is kind of painful. I've had it for over two years now, but it's only been causing discomfort for about a year. I'm petrified just at the thought of going, but I'm just going to have to suck it up and go. TMI, I'm sure, but I'm just really nervous about it. Sigh.

I've been waking up with extremely dried out eyes for about a month (maybe a little longer.) now. I have NEVER had this issue before, and am wondering if maybe I've developed some allergies. It's so uncomfortable, and I can barely open my eyes until I splash them with water. It could be that we have the heat on now, but it has never done this to me in the past. Thinking about buying some eye drops, but I'm not really a fan of putting things like that in my eyes.

For those that are celebrating Turkey day next Thursday, have you started getting anything ready for it? What are your plans?
  • It's been a hard week food wise. I've wanted to get off the wagon not because I'm tired of what I'm eating or even because I'm tired of the calories I have, it's because I'm distracted doing other things and then I have to come up with a meal!

I was also sad when I went to grocery shopping because I noticed that there's really no more fruit in season (or even in general). We're back to the generic bananas, apples, and grapes. I miss all the summer vegetables and fruits!

I like adding fruits to my cottage cheese and adding an apple isn't as exciting. I have some frozen strawberries that I am going to try to see if it's any good.

I'm still exercising and I'm really hoping to break into the 173s... I don't know if I will because I lost a good chunk of weight recently. I want to make it to 170, so I can reward myself with maybe a new bike (or, used new bike!).
  • t0rn -- I'm cooking for my family. There's a great turkey brine recipe that I have and we'll have cranberry sauce and some vegetables (I'll probably insist on green beans) and brown rice. I'm also going to make a healthy apple pie, because I've had a craving for baked apples.
  • tOrn...Zumba is like a salsa workout! You can buy the DVD online and I even saw it at Wal-Mart last night! It looks like a lot of fun! I'm thinking about buying it for myself for Christmas

    Who's here this month?

    I am!

    How are you?

exhausted-today is my second day back at work from maternity leave and i overslept..just cant seem to wake up

    What are you working on?

my plan of action to lose this weight..i think ive decided on calorie counting and because we have a free gym here at work i think i figured out my gym plan too (so that i can still see baby)

How was last month? How's your PCOS management going?

well last month i had just had a baby and so i am just now getting back in the game...pcos management has been kinda non-existant due to the pregnancy and hasnt applied...for now my dr put me back on BC and said to get my butt in the gym
  • Just checking in... kid being on thanksgiving break is nice in terms of spending time together, but crazy making in terms of getting house stuff done. We're hosting Thanksgiving so I'm feeling a bit pressured.

On the bright side, I've made it potluck this year so I don't have the work, and the dishes my own family is responsible for are on plan provided I can stick to the right portions.

I also went to check out a nearby gym. I'm not joining til after Thanksgiving so I can start on the top of the Dec billing cycle, but I just have to do something about the exercise thing. I've tried other venues, but I'm not consistent with exercise. It's my hardest battle.

I'm also cranking my BistroMD back up -- it was a huge help and turning it off for Thanksgiving break helped me see that I need the security of a freezer stash handy or else I will derail. I'm not quite at the place to let it go.

Hope you guys have a great holiday weekend!

  • Hello ladies,

Haven't checked in this month... cause I discovered that I am pregnant .. and still in some shock! Seems like the weight loss / diet etc really does work! We were trying to avoid all medication and do it the natural way.. and lo behold!

I'm still coming to terms with all of the associated stuff.. the worst being morning sickness hitting through the day! I've actually lost about 4 lbs this month cause of the food aversions / sickness etc.

I just wanted to know a bit more about PCOS and pregnancy. If people have do's / donts etc or some write up. Most of the stuff I've read is to get pregnant... but nothing on PCOS management during pregnancy. I want this to be a healthy pregnancy... so that at the end I'm not left in a bigger mess to deal with then when I started!

I'm still in a bit in shock and really want to go back to my first OB who had said my case was lost! Well alot of lbs lighter and healthier..... and here I am!

I guess all of this effort that we all put in our daily lives is worth it (morning sickness notwithstanding!!!)

We have alot to be thankful for. Have a good weekend and do direct me to some reading material.

  • Before I head off for the feast this afternoon (Thanksgiving, of course), I just wanted to post that I reached a new low of 173.6!

I just wasn't expecting it because this week has been hard because of temptations lurking in every corner and being a little disorganized (didn't plan my meals well)!

I know that tomorrow, I can easily be back at 174... But it's just nice to see the scale go down, because it makes 173 seem feasible, rather than impossible!!!!
  • PGH -- congrats! The only two things I wish I'd done different in pregnancy? Gotten more info about staying on Metformin and started a diabetic diet ASAP instead of at 7 mos when they sent me to class. Because a full term would have been more beneficial than just 2 months. I developed gest. diabetes and preeclampsia by the end and while I'm not sure how that would have turned out, I would have like more time.

    Rana:
    Go 173!

    My Check in:

The thanksgiving at my house went really smoothly with no glitches! I made everyone take home their desserts ASAP. Had a lot of rest Friday and the house is back to normal. Now I'm visiting with relatives who flew in that will be leaving early next week.

I'm excited for next week -- not because the relatives leave -- but because I'm joining the gym!

Hope you guys had a nice holiday!

  • thanks astrophe!
  • Where are you guys? Still on Thanksgiving break?

I'm here, and feeling the bloat! TOM, where are yoooouuuu? Argh. I feel like the pillsbury dough boy.

I'm about to clean out the kitchen fridge from all the partying and get organized for tomorrow's breakfast. Then I'm going to give myself a facial, have some tea, and call it a night.

    How's everyone doing?

  • Last day of November and I'm up 2 lbs! I really hope it's just TOM stuff. I'm due to get my period in a few days.
  • pgh thats great! i think PCOS management depends on your body and your dr...my dr took me off of the metformin at 14 wks, and i didnt have any issues. the reason i say it depends on your body is because for me, i gained around 40 lbs, ate not too terrible but not too great either, and didnt have horrible morning sickness, didnt get gest. diabetes, didnt develop preeclampsia etc...the worst symptom i had was swelling. i say talk to your dr about any concerns you are having (i had quite a few) and drink plenty of water, take your vitamin and follow the dr's advice regarding your pcos. i wish you lots of luck on your journey and i hope your pregnancy goes smoothly!!
  • Ooops! I didn't read PGH's news!

    Congratulations! That's wonderful!
