  • That = maintenance for me. If I'm on plan all week and veer off on the weekends my weightloss comes to a standstill!
  • Quote: Ha yes, the old joke around 3FC - what do you call a person who is offplan every weekend - a maintainer!

(ie. weekend calories can bring weight loss to a standstill).
I think I need someone to smack me in the face with this a few more times before I get it.

I have been apart of 3FC for 4 years now. In the beginning I lose 50 pounds in 10 months, I tracked everyday - had one cheat meal a week.

For the last 3 years I have tracked during the week and not on the weekends. I am the same weight now as I was when I reached my 50 pound mark. I have even gone up and down 10 pounds over and over and over.

I don't want to admit that weekends are my problem; even though they are. And I don't even over do it - but I allowed a treat here or there and don't count.

This method DOES NOT WORK. At least not for me. And I have been trying it for 3 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I keep telling myself that two days worth of not tracking can not out do a whole week of eating good, but it does it really does.

Thank you Glory - hopefully your post was what I needed to started losing again.
  • Quote: Weekends are difficult for many of us, and it's very VERY easy to undo in two days what one has worked hard to achieve over the previous five.
This is what really hits home to me when I think about the 80/20 thing. Esp. with restaurant food, that hidden fat and all the extra calories sneak in there - a couple of pieces of bread with butter, a glass or two of wine, a "normal" entree (it's what's served on the plate, so that's normal, right? Even though it's usually about 3x my measured portions). It adds up SO quickly!
  • See, I could do this besides the Special Day thing. Because I could make any day "special", in my world of justification. This is the reason I gained weight in the first place.
I'd have a special day because I failed a test, a special day because I did well on a test, a special day because it was my birthday, a special day because it was a sister's birthday, a special day because I was traveling...and so on and so forth. Every special day would ruin my calorie deficit.

I feel like this might be able to work in combination with calorie counting. But on its on, it seems slippery
