  • Hiya my Peeps,

Ratrat update: I took her to the vet for fluids and she growled and spit and hissed the entire time, just like she used to! I think it's a good sign. We pilled her and she got really upset. When we got home, the poor thing barfed. I think she was just upset. She started nibbling food when I left for work. I moved her litterbox closer to her. She still has lots of piss and vinegar in her (as my Mom would say).

I'm doing ok. I tried a medicine change from Cymbalta to lexapro and it wasn't for me. I was worried about the time release in Cymbalta not being effective with my new intestines. I'm in the middle of switching back to Cymbalta. Hopefully, my mood will improve shortly.

It was 62F today, but mostly overcast and threatening to rain. I'm so ready to go bike riding!!!

    Hugs,
    Ratkity
  • Not been up to posting, my Dad was rushed into hospital Wednesday night with a heart attack. Last time it turned out to be blood clots, they damaged his heart, hence his heat attack. They are putting a camera into his leg or arm in next few days to check the damage, the specialist thinks it is a 'warning' attack, not a really serious one; it's still enough to keep my Dad in his bed & look awful. MY Mum is on her own & it isn't practical for us to go, my sister is going Monday as her kids stay at home with their Dad & she can drive, unlike me & other sister.
My food has been horrible, no TOM, hot sweats....blah....swollen tummy.... I will get back OP after Sunday, Mother's Day in the UK, otherwise my 'new' jeans won't fit anymore...sorry for the moan, that's why I didn't post before.
    xxxxxxx sharon
ps Annie hope you are still ok w/o the meds, hugs & WTG on the walking.xxxxx
  • Everybody has a lot going on!!! Doesn't the world know that we are trying to lose weight and most of us are stress eaters!!! How are we to lose weight when the world keeps us in high stress mode??? I know. Find another coping mechanism! That would be what I am working on.

I start liquid diet on Tuesday. I will be on it for two full weeks until surgery. Therefore, because I am the healthy minded person that I am, I am eating out for breakfast and lunch today. And am already planning meals out for the next four days! Sad...
  • *raises hand* Stress eater here!

I am trying to do other things instead of doing stress eating. I am seeing a therapist who helps greatly. She reminds me to do work with my photos or play guitar. I think I'm going to start walking the dogs now that the snow is gone and I have my strength back.

    Annie, how you doing?

Sharon, wow.. sorry to hear about your Dad. I know how hopeless you feel by not being able to get to his side.

Basket - it's ok to plan!! I had to do a liquid diet for a week. It's hard. Hang in there.

I'm hanging in there. I work at home today, so I can keep an eye on Ratrat. She ate good this morning. I annoyed her a bunch by kissing her and petting her. She's all curled up in her favorite bed (with heater) snoozing now. The little bed is soft and round like a bag with a soft rim. She can get inside and lay her head on the rim and be warm. Wanna see a ticked off cat? Just pick her up and hug and kiss her...hehe. Then she has to get comfy again. It's good to hear her complain.

    Hugs to all,
    Ratkity
  • Sharon: So sorry to hear about your dad. I really hope things improve for him and you too

Basketcase: I was a stress eater..but now that I am having all these tummy problems..I dont eat what I use to. GUess that is one good thing for having whatever I have..I sure wish someone would just tell me what it is..and if I can fix it.

Rat: My friend is having issues with her kittty. She is about 16 years old and it was her parents cat. When they passes away about 7 years ago..she got the cat. She said it is really hard not only cause she loves the cat..but that it is sort of her last ties to her parents. I am glad your kitty is doing a little better

As for me: We went to my uncles last night. My uncle knows alot about religion..not that he is really religious if that makes any sense. We talked with him and my aunt for hours about different things. Including my sons EX. It was nice just to sit and chat like we use to before the kids got older and life got really bad.

Today I dont know what we are doing..the kids really dont seem interested in doing family things lol. With my oldest working it is just really hard. But I am still enjoying my time off. They didnt want to go see alice in wonderland yesterday so we didnt go. Letting my kids grow up is really hard!
  • Cyn,

I gotta tell you this... during my "growing up" years, I worked lots, went out with friends and didn't do much with family. Now that I'm older, it's fun to grab Mom and go to the movies together when I'm home. We have seen all sorts of cool movies. It was nice watching movies via the Hallmark channel when she was here helping me. Da kids will come back, I promise!

    Hugs,
    Ratkity
  • Rat: i hope you are right ...hehe. We did go out for breakfast yesterday. That was fun.

For me today catching up on things I have been neglecting. For one housework. Goodness..this place is a mess lol. Going to finish my nieces birthday gift. I will post a pic when it is done. Also finish cards for OWH so they can be mailed next week!

PS I am posting a new thread on something I have been thinking about
  • I'm cleaning the house this weekend, and doing a bunch of laundry. I find I do better during the week if I have my decks cleared. My food has been horrible.
  • Morning all..

This thread sure is quiet. Well yesterday I didnt not get as much cleaning done as I had wanted. I realize I do get tucked out easily.

Did I tell yall about out bathroom problems??? Basically one tub will back up for some reason..does it out of the blue, not even after showers. Then it backs into our shower which is not a tub so it then overflows into the bathroom floor. Well on Wednesday it did it fro the 2nd time. But this time it went into our bedroom. The house has those fake wood floors..so imagine where all the water went. It took the landlord 2 days to call us back which is unusual for her. Anyhow she is telling us that we need to dig out a tree by the bathroom wall outside. Hubby told her that is fine but the pipe is probably broken somewhere and the roots are getting in. She said if the home warranty does not fix it, she doesnt have the money. My house smells like that moldy smell. ;( I have a feeling we are all going to get sick! my brother said it did it about 2 times a month as long as he has lived here..all that water just soaking into the floor.

So we have decided we are moving. I dont know where my brother is going to go because he has felonies and getting a place is hard for him. We signed a lease, but she didnt put an end date on it. So we are thinking as soon as we find something we will move.

I hope we find a place soon. I think this house is just old..and needs lots of repairs and she will not fix them.

The area we live in is nice and we want to stay here, but houses and even apartments are scarce.
  • Good Morning ladies I just had to share a HUGE nsv that I had last night..my g/f came over to visit and I bought some chips to put out while she was here and normally I would have had some but last night I did not touch ONE chip I cant believe it but I started doing an atkins type diet on friday cutting out all breads, potatoes, pasta, etc and today is day 3 and I have been doing great so far and really proud of myself because I love my potatoes and pasta but I did atkins about 5 years ago and lost 70 lbs in 7 months so I know that I can do it again I just have to have will power..Im not really doing a strict version of atkins what i mean is that Im not counting my carbs I am just staying away from potatoes, pasta, and bread as much as possible..I have been eating alot of veggies which I love.

Well, anyway has anyone seen Kayleystar?? I really miss her I hope she comes back soon and I hope everything is ok.

Well, I will talk to you ladies later have a great sunday
    Heather
  • Hiya My Peeps!

I hate the time change.. bah!

Cyn, sounds like it's time to move. That backup stuff is icky.

Heatherb, w000000t! Yay for da nsv!

I've been putzing around all weekend. It's been rainy and dreary. I did get stepping stones placed from the driveway to the walkway. I only sacrificed one scraped finger. lol. Doing laundry now and trying to entice the old kitteh of mine to eat. I made some more mini quiches for next week and went out to the grocery store and got some protein bars that don't have any sugar alcohols in them (those upset my intestiines bad).

Hope everyone is having a productive weekend.

    Hugs,
    Ratkity
  • Good Evening All!

Hope all is well with everyone! I'm Stella btw. Nice to meet you all! I've been posting here and there! I just enjoy this site so much! I'm still kinda new. I'll be glad when I get a signature and my very own ticker! LOL!

Not sure where everybody is from but I'm about ready for spring here in NC!! I luv snow just as much as the next person but sometimes enough is enough although this is the worst winter we have had in many years! I'm starting to get into that "spring cleaning" mood. We have been in our new home since the end of last January and I'm loving it but we have acquired quite a bit of stuff since then so it's about time for a good cleaning. I just can't seem to find the time! My grandmother had a stroke last June and has been in a nursing home since then. I know it may sound strange but my mother and I go twice a week and bathe her and then go on off days just to visit. We have been doing this for almost a year. She is somewhat of a modest woman and doesn't like to be "handled" by just anybody! It's a very tiring thing because she can't do anything for herself. Sometimes I dread going but then I think about the time I am getting to spend with her. She will be 82 next Sunday and I'm thankful to have had her here this long. She is my only living grandparent with the exception of my in-laws.

We have also started going to Curves so by the time we workout and then go to the nursing home for several hours and run any errands that need to be done, I am just about worn out. My house still needs cleaning nonetheless!! I'm just gonna have to make time to do it.

I don't know about anybody else but I can't seem to get TOM to leave!! I have been on this journey now for about 2 weeks and he has been here off and on just about the whole time. I am assuming that it might be partly due to the exercising and moving more. I don't know but it's really starting to affect some "other" aspects of life *blushes*

Well, I have babbled enough!! I hope you all have a tremendously blessed week and I look forward to chatting with you all soon. I'm all about gathering as many diet buddies as I can stand

    Hugs and Prayers,
    Stella~
