  • Does EA have games or is it like work out video?

Rachael, good idea! I'll have to make sure I have a bra on or that won't work.!! You have just about the same stats that I do. What area do you post in? I don't know which section to "join".

I lost 65 over 18 months almost 3 years ago, maintained and fought not to gain for a year and then started to gain last fall. So now I am back again and very determined. I have had one cold after another and that is making it a bit hard to get all calories in right now. Very odd feeling!

Off to work to infect the office!
  • I read 100lb club a lot, but I don't post a ton. Sometimes I read the 30s one, too, but I don't really post much anywhere. I'm working on that.

I really like the free step with the TV because it makes me feel like a jerk if I don't do it. I'm a little nervous about the working out because I start back to school today and fitting in workout time is going to be tough on top of work, school, and family. I'm just glad that I've been doing it for several weeks now so I'll be motivated not to skip.
  • Games isn't really the right word, not like Wii Fit Plus (in which the games are pretty fun).

I'm only speaking of the new "EA Active: More Workouts" which I heard is better although I don't have the first one.

It's not like a pure workout video though either. There are elements like that where you are doing exercises or steps, but they also do a lot of "fun" ways to get you to do things also.

    A couple of my favorites.

Cardio boxing/combo boxing (waay better than what is in Wii Fit IMO)
Paddleboarding (kind of like jump lunges with some arm work)
    Squash

and then some random other ones that are simple but fun. There is a run where you have to jog, then sprint to pass people. I don't know why but it is a lot more fun (and a better workout) than just jogging in place in your living room.

There is an obstacle course that is pretty awesome that combines a lot of different things in like a circuit.

So the cardio stuff is what I would describe as "activities" although the strength is like Wii Fit, pretty much like a DVD (although it tracks you doing it so you don't get to cheat by skipping half the reps haha)
  • That sounds good. I like interactive stuff and don't really want to just watch someone doing something and repeat etc. I thought it was totally like watching a teacher in a class and nothing else. Thanks
  • I have the Wii Fit, Wii Fit Plus and EA Active - and I absolutely agree with the other posters who've recommended to do the 30 day challenge on EA Active. It's easy, straightforward and definitely a more intense work out than Wii Fit.
  • Do you need the board with EA Active?
  • Quote: Do you need the board with EA Active?
No, although it supports the board for a few things (notably stepping routines, weighing). If you didn't want to get a Wii Fit for other reasons and only wanted EA Active I wouldn't buy the board.
  • The yoga on the Wiit Fit plus is pretty amazing. You don't work up a sweat like you would with more active things, but after a while you WILL notice more flexibility!

I try to walk between 3.5-5 miles a day and I noticed that my right leg always seemed to have a pain in it afterwards. The weeks that I incorporated 25 minutes of yoga at least 3x a week that pain was non-existent.
  • Routine
On a good day I get in an hour or so on the Fit. I do 30 minutes of yoga, which includes a general run of each available exercise (I have all of them unlocked).

Yoga is a great way to warm up for strength training. Some days I focus more on core workouts than an all-over toning session. On those days I do a lot of twists follow by jack knives. A lot of the yoga exercises compliment the ab work pretty well.

Some days I follow it all up with Advanced Step and Rhythm Boxing and, last but not least, Super Hula Hooping.

It is a regimen that I have found works best for me (especially saving cardio for last - just try keeping your balance steady after raising your heartbeat that high!).
  • I know this is an old thread but, I wanted to post anyway.

If you are still doing the Free Step and can't hear the Wiimote you can turn it's volume up.

•When you are on the Fit screen about to play it click the home key.
•When the (Wii Menu) (Reset) buttons come up click the Wiimote.
•A screen will come up where you can adjust the volume on the Wiimote and turn the rumble on/off. You can change it back whenever you like.
