  • Quote: I got my shoes in June, the same time I started weight loss, but I don't wear them very often. Just for walking, but my main form of exercise is swimming.

A bit of googling and it looks my pain isn't really in my hip-- it's on the outside of my hip/thigh, and apparently "hip pain" is felt in the groin...
Well in theat case you need some good stretches here are a couple of good ones that I do after a run... There are other stretches on this site for you to try...

Lying Hip Abductor Stretch 1 (Fig 41)

Lie flat on the floor and flex one leg up towards you whilst keeping the other leg extended. Ease the flexed leg across your extended leg, moving it further into a position of stretch with light pressure from your opposite hand. Your back and shoulders must stay in contact with the floor throughout the movement. You will feel the stretch along the outside of your hip and thigh. Breathe easily throughout the exercise.

Lying Hip Abductor Stretch 2 (Fig 42)

Lie flat on the floor with both legs flexed at the knee. Now cross your legs and use the weight of the top leg to bring the lower leg down towards the floor. Keep your back, shoulders and the foot of the lower leg in contact with floor throughout the movement. You will feel the stretch along the outside of the hip and thigh. Repeat with the other leg. Breathe easily throughout the exercise.

Hope this all helps, keep us posted on your progress....
  • Ooh, thanks for these stretches. I didn't see this right away.

The good news is that I've fixed the hip pain.

I lowered the incline then upped the speed to get the intensity and I started slower for a longer warm up, so and I haven't had any more problem.

I'm going to try to stretches. They look great.
  • i had this problem also. i started taking glucosamine and stretching right after running and it helped ALOT. i went from not being able to stand up from the easy chair, to being just fine. i HIGHLY recommend glucosamine (except the pills are huge and a pain to take)
