    GOOD MORNING MAGNOLIAS
It did rain here last night and parts of this state got snow. It is a bright sunshiney day now. I have some young friends coming over later this morning to play Monopoly. We played yesterday and they wanted to come back today. I have a stew cooking to feed them. One of the couples have a tiny baby girl that is so cute and such a good baby. The father is a music teacher and the mother is a nurse so I can see a bright future for her. We do have fun and laugh a lot. The other couple are college students in their last weeks of school before graduation. The male is going to be a school phychologist and the gal a school teacher for the handicaped. And we all love to play Monopoly.

JEAN Sounds like your school is really going downhill fast. It is sad to hear that and I can imagine how you feel about it. Hope you get some sunshine soon.

DONNA FAYE I sure hope you are safe and enjoying yourself.

    SUSAN Howdy to you.

I had better get dressed and ready to play. Type at y'all soon.
  • Good evening, ladies! It's been drizzling off and on for 2 days. I hope tomorrow is better because they are coming to put my windows in and they won't do it if it is raining.

I had a busy day. After work I made a Trader Joe's run, picked up a few things at Food Lion, went to the library, and then came home and started taking down the drapes, curtains, blinds. I just finished. They will have to take the hardware down. I can't hold my arms above my shoulders for long or I get really short of breath. I did take a break in there for some supper.

I hope Faye and Jack got to her son's in good time and are happy playing with Jackson.

Jean, its unbelievable how your school has gone down so much. In VA we still fail students and give them 0s and detentions and all that stuff. York County is noted for its school system. Hampton and Newport News are more like your school and always on the bottom for the SL tests.

Maggie, I love to play Monopoly but haven't done so in years. I see they have a new version out for quilters. When we were kids we'd play for hours on end in the summer.

I'm about to fall asleep so I'm off to bed.
  • Good Morning,Flowers! It's another dark dreary morning in my corner of the world. We are supposed to get some "wintery mix" weather today and sunshine tomorrow. I should pick up Ian's picture from the newspaper and stop by the po, but I'll bet the po will be crazy today.

Maggie -- Bob talks about playing Monopoly when he was a kid. The neighborhood kids would play marathons leaving the game set up and then returning the next day to finish. Being an only child I never played it much as a kid. Now whenever I play I'm usually the first one to lose all my houses and land. I'm sure you had a grand time with your young friends.

Susan -- Iowa used to be one of the top states for its education system. We can thank the immigrants (Mexicans mostly) for pulling us down. They don't care and all most of them want to do is have a big fancy pickup and have as many kids asap.

I hope you all have a great day today! I'm glad I don't have to go to the grocery store today.

    Jean -- from Iowa!
  • Good morning, ladies. Its a cool 58 degrees right now with drizzle.

The men are here putting in my windows and door. They really know their stuff. They will probably be done by lunch time.

Since I posted so late last night, I don't have much to add this morning.

I should probably tell you that I have roses blooming again. I'll pick some to take to my friend tomorrow.

Jean, we have a growing Mexican population in Newport News and Hampton and as I said, their schools are going down. There are big problems with gangs. We don't get them much in York County unless they are successful because this is considered an upscale community - it wasn't when I moved here, but the housing here is about twice what it is in in surrounding areas and rents begin over $1,000 a month. I'm glad I did my shopping yesterday. The only place is might go over the weekend is Joann's Fabric Store because they sent really good coupons and have lots of stuff on sale. I want to get a Rowenta travel iron for my quilting. I have a coupon for 50% off and another for 20% off my total purchase is it should be very reasonable.

Maggie, I hope you are having fun with your monoply day!

    Have a great Thanksgiving!
