  • Yippee! Can't wait to hear how it went!
  • Good for you. I have a 2 mile run thanksgiving day and a 5K on Dec 5. I never ran in my life except for the last few days. I will be walking most of it. But I have to start somewhere.. and so do you. Think of it like dieting. We can't be perfect .. but we can be better then yesterday.
  • I too vote for walk it! I think that because of the way you feel (being out of shape and all) that any amount of exercise will make you feel better than missing this family tradition!
  • Thanks everyone!! I will definitely come back and let you all know how it went. I'm starting to look forward to it actually. Avoiding things is a big roadblock for me in this whole journey. It really just feeds shame, so i am going to keep putting myself out there.

Charbar good luck on your runs! I was so scared and intimidated on my first run. Me--a runner? It seemed SO ridiculous. I got the biggest shock when I realized how much fun I was having. It's way better than running on the treadmill alone. I have to say runners are the most supportive group of people I have ever met! People cheer you along and sincerely congratulate your efforts.

Once while training on a trail near my home, I had a man in his 70s (in amazing shape) slow down and jog with me my last 2 miles. It really touched me to see a total stranger give support when I was struggling. I really look forward to getting back into shape---I even took the laundry off the treadmill...
  • Ruby.. I'm so happy that you are going on this run! As Nike says: Just do it!
I'm really scared to death. What if I come in last place - someone has to, right? What if I have a stroke and they have to call 911? My family already thinks I'm nuts (they are all fat) that I'm going to spend time to do this. Normally, I would just do what I think they want... but not this time

Please let us know how it goes for you!!
