  • Thank you so much for sharing that. It helps to remember that our bodies are ours, no matter what, and we need to cherish them--find love and hope in the battle scars!
  • I'm glad I read this today. Very inspirational.
  • haha thank you onderchic!
  • Thanks for sharing!
  • Quote: I absolutely agree, Julia! I have a massive scar on one arm from having a melanoma removed. It looks bad, but now I wear sleeveless tops and singlets without being self-conscious (no, not in the sun!). I call it my survivor scar. Because if it wasn't here, I wouldn't be.

exactly. dont be ashamed! scars are beautiful and interesting and usually make for good stories.
  • Quote: haha thank you onderchic!

    You're very welcome
  • The mother of a friend of mine has a scar across her entire neck, very vivid, from surgery (I think for cancer, not sure what type). It looks like the type of scar a person would get from being hanged! We all told her she looked "wicked" and "way cool", and she agrees. She loves showing it off to people.
  • Julia -- I agree. I like stretch marks too. I have a bunch on my hips just from going through puberty! They're shiny and remind me of tiger stripes. I had a friend tell me once she couldn't believe I could be confident about my stretch marks, and I told her they made me feel fierce! I guess I never got the memo about hating stretch marks.
  • I am so happy for those women who are able to put their own "battle scars" in perspective and provide a lesson for us all. Thank you for sharing!
  • This photo has been one of my Flickr favorites for a long time (warning: scars).

My best friend has a scar on her neck from where a small "growth" was removed. If anyone asks she says "the byatch stabbed me in a bar fight, but you should see what I left of her. ".

Is any woman ashamed of their c-section scar? Why be ashamed of any other?
  • OT, but this thread reminds me a LOT of the song "Beautiful Scars" by Steven Curtis Chapman - I recommend a listen to my fellow fat chicks: http://new.music.yahoo.com/steven-cu...cars--60784428
  • Thank you for that. i needed reminding of my own beauty, imperfections and all.
  • :-) Love the original post and all the previous comments! I agree with the concept of "battle scars". They are testament to our life.
  • i feel like I really needed to read this. I've got quite a collection of battle scars and I'm extremely self-conscious about them. But this post really put into perspective what matters....
