Hi, I haven't posted here in a while and in this particular forum, never, because I was always trying to stick to WW (Lifetime in 1989) but after seeing 20/20 a couple weeks ago and reading that NY Times article on low/fat high-carb diets (they were never really proven to work was the bottom line for me), I decided to give the low carb thing a try. I was brainwashed into thinking fats make you fat and they are bad for your heart. Well, making my own decision, I believe everything in moderation. I now am doing Sommersizing but lowering the amount of cheese and cream and some other fats (never did like mayonnaise!). I have oatmeal or a low sugar cereal for breakfast and then wait at least 3 hours and have protein (chicken usually) and a salad with full fat dressing for lunch and dinner is veggies cooked in olive oil or butter and usually fish or poultry and sometimes beef. I allow myself up to 2 fruit, too and sometimes will have a carb snack, though not every day. Well after one week I lost 5 lbs, so I guess so far so good. Goal is to lose about 7-10 more pounds.
137/132/125 or so. I hope everyone is successful and I will try to visit more often. I am still adjusting to this way of eating so I need support and will support you great folks too! Good luck to everyone...we're all struggling together.

  • Hmmm...since I never posted here I'd better just chime in my two cents--I'm doing CALP and loving it!
  • I'm still doing CAD and loving it. It is working for me very well. Have lost 8 pounds so far on it. Judy
  • I started off on the Akins plan but I am not a real meat, cheese and nut eater. I do a combinations of aktins, summersize, and others. I usually keep my carbs between 40-60 a day.
