  • Hey Redkat! Congrats on your success so far and your determination to jump back on the wagon if you happen to fall off. My problem has also been with bingeing and overeating. The one thing I keep on reading about and forcing myself to remember though is that the next day no matter how horrible and huge my stomach feels, to NOT starve yourself. It makes sense...oh I must've consumed 5,000 calories last night which means I'll just starve myself all day today. Hopefully you're not doing that. Always be sure to get at least 1,200 calories in the day even if you binged the night before. That way your metabolism won't slow down and you'll be able to burn off those calories gained from the bingeing all that much easier! I wish you the best of luck and as you can see from all these posts, we're all here for each other!

  • Hi, I'm new here but I can definitely feel your pain. I've been bingeing for the past...I can't even remember how long...I've gained 4 or 5 pounds, so 2 additional pounds over my original start weight, which really sucks. It's so hard to stop, but I can feel myself s-l-o-w-l-y reining in, not craving as much. I just wish I knew a way to stop when it starts, instead of just waiting for it to pass and being really really unhappy! I don't really have any advice, but I truly hope that you are able to regain control somehow as soon as possible.
  • Hi there

I have spent many years binge eating (and purging) and the only thing that has helped me stop has been Atkins, and perhaps also taking bupropion, the generic Wellbutrin.

The absence of carbs has REALLY helped me a lot. I don't know how much the antidepressant has helped too, at least as far as diet goes, but I'm not craving sugar or bread at all. I used to be able to eat a loaf of French bread by myself, or a whole large pizza.

When I was eating a "normal" diet, I was constantly up and down on the scale, and in my resolve. Overall though, the weight trend was going up for me. Atkins has surprised me by how well it works. That's my experience anyway.

I hope you find what works for you
