  • I've been trying SparkPeople for about a week and I really like it so far! Thanks, everyone, for your suggestions! (and for the kudos )
  • I've made an Excel file on my desktop and have a lil calorie book on my computer desk. I'll input the foods myself (I know a lot of them by heart now) - I do this as I'm English and find that the calorie counting websites cater mainly for American food brands, and was worried that the ones I selected were representing the food I was eating. But I've set excel up do that it tots all my calories and fat up automatically, and also records my weekly calorie intake and deficit. Its an alternative method but it works!
  • I've kept a mental log as I move through the day. It helps to eat some of the same things daily and having a rough estimate of how many calories I've consumed. I also love eating fast food, so there are a great many calorie calculators online that I can use when I try something new.
  • I used to use The Daily Plate, but found I wasn't losing any weight - I think the calories allowed were too high. I've since moved to Spark People and finally things are happening
  • When i logged my calories online i used myfitnesspal...real easy and thier food data base is HUGE. Worth checking out, good luck
  • I have used daily plate since I started this way of life about 1.5 years ago. At every turn I resisted changing over to livestrong.com. Now, it's been a while since the merger between the sites --I have no choice and I have to track thru that site to get to daily plate. It's super annoying!

Sparkpeople or fitday? Ima gonna check it out. Thanks for starting this thread!
  • I have used fitday and liked it - especially all of the charts! Lately I've been using fatsecret.com. It seems to have a larger database than fitday and you have the option of tracking WW points - it will calculate them for you. It also tracks sodium! I don't do WW, but thought the comparison between calorie levels and WW points was intersting.
