OK, so everything has sprouted except the 3 types Peppers and Spinach. So we have Corn, 5 types Tomatoes, Arugula, Broccoli, Cucumber and Carrots. I also made some gift starters of the Tomatoes and Peppers for my neighbors. I got a big 4 lb. box of strawberries that makes a great green house for the portable stuff. COOL!!! I love finding cheap ways to be charitable.

I will start the Beans(3 types) and Squash(Medley, I get what I get) that goes with the Corn in the 3 Sisters Garden in another week or so. Pretty appropriate garden, I think, since this is my FAVORITE forum.

I was going to plant blue, black, rasp and strawberries, buuut, after looking into it I've decided to just go with rasp and strawberries. Ain't waitin' no 3 years for blueberries. I don't even want to be in UT that long. Also, going to try some watermelons and, maybe, cantaloupe. I'm still going to get some Lettuce, Potatoes, Celery and Garlic. I have my herb seeds, but I'll plant those outside when I start the main garden and I'll plant Marigolds in the empty spaces to keep the bugs and cats away. Wanna go as organic as is possible. Square Foot is supposed to be really good for that.

I just wish the weather would decide WTH it is gonna do. For Pete's Sake, I've gone from Summer to Winter 10 times this week. Seriously, it has gone from one extreme to another up to 3 times in a day. It is making me nuts. I know I can't plant outside until late May, but, I would at least like to get a good start at tearing out the grass and getting a compost pile started. I'm not good with patience, can you tell?

So, what's going on for everyone else. Even you brats in nice areas where you can plant year 'round.

my seedlings are doing great and growing like crazy...except for the peppers??? but they are quite happy..should take a pic of my happy newbies. Need to actually move my cukes to a bit large pots..they've started to outgrow their initial pot. I can't wait until i get some planting done outdoors in a few weeks.

Bed 1: Eggplant, tomato, radish, and jalapeno are the immediately visible plants. There also is swiss chard, some bush beans, and seeds started in the back to grow trellised squash and cucumber. Pepper transplants will go in this bed once they get here.



Bed 2: Basil and Amish Snap Peas are the most visible. Bed also contains lettuce, nantes carrots, Red Swan beans, lettuces, and more trellised squash in the back. The tomato transplants will be going in here, when they arrive.



Herbs - Mint, Thyme, Cilantro, and Chives. I know the mint should be in it's own pot but am keeping it really well trimmed to prevent takeover. Using the leaves in tea...yum!



Since I took the pictures, the beans have really come up FAST.

Gee Gator, I guess there is just something slow about the peppers. I saw one of the seeds near the surface on mine. It had a teeny tiny little root, maybe a 1/4". Hopefully before to much longer.......

Just got back from the store with more seeds-Scallions, Lettuce(3 types), Orange Peppers, Watermelon, Cantaloupe, Red Onions and Garlic. Also got some Marigold seeds. I couldn't be overdoing it, could I.

well my peppers FINALLY sprouted (about a week behind everything else). All my seedlings did so well i think i'll actually have to find homes for a few of the baby plants...i won't have enough space to plant everything...but i'm glad my seedlings did well. I'm going to finish getting my garden ready next week and then plant the seedling at the end of the month (considering it was 70 on sunday and today it is 30F...burr). By then the plants should be nice and trained (taking them out for "outdoor visits" LOL) and be good and strong to get planted in the ground. I can't wait to have fresh tasty veggies.

2 of my peppers are barely, kinda, sorta, maybe trying to sprout. Heck, the Marigold's and lettuce I planted on 4/2 are sprouting already, buuuut, the peppers are trying to make me insane.

i know operator..i'm starting to think peppers are a bit on the shy side and don't want to sprout LOL. I'm glad i still have my seedlings inside since we got snow flurries today. Man though..my squash are so insane right now..i need warm weather so I can get them out side soon before they outgrown their pots. I think next year i'll plant my peppers about 2 wk before everything else LOL.

A little word to the wise if your peppers DON'T sprout (mine failed entirely) and you're hoping for heirloom varieties....Seed Saver's Exchange sells and ships heirloom pepper and tomato transplants in packs of 6 plants.

Just got my Squash and Beans started for the 3 Sister's Garden. Also, I am getting some Tomatoes, Peppers, Beans, Cukes and Marigolds going for a friend at work. He says since I'm sharing the planting, they'll share in the harvest. IDK though, looking at my counter, I may already be in trouble.

The roses are really starting to take off out front. Guess I better get the lawn fertilized and put some weed kill on it these days off. We also need to dig out the grass in the back for the veggies and build the frame at least. 'Course I have until the middle of May at the earliest, but, I wanna get it ready and in place early.

So i know a few of you were talking aobut doing container gardens instead of in ground gardens. I was originally planning to plant a garden in the ground, however, due to house construction...the garden wouldn't survive (right in the way of the job). So i've decided to do container gardening...and found a few books one talking about self watering plant boxes. So I looked on line and found out how expensive they were and then found out how to build some on your own...so if anyone else is interested..here's a website.

just make sure if you do use this device...you don't use moisture control soil (it will suck up all the water and become water logged).

Life has been busy but i do have seedling growing on my dinning room table.I have issue with my peppers. They have not sprouted and everything else is getting real leaves already. Guess they are just slower starters.
I still have to get my garden tilled but its been so wet here and cool. Maybe in a week or so we can get it tilled and these little babies will be ready to go in the ground. We are doing big boy tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, jalapono, cucumbers, zuch, yellow crooked neck squash, sweet banana peppers and i am tempted to try eggplant. I am also doing a few rows of flower in my garden to help keep bugs away and bring on the bees.

We were able to get the garden tilled right before major rain fall on sat evening.My arms are sore from all the raking and shoveling i did. Great exercise though!!
I am thinking of checking out plants in a few days at the greenhouse and see what they have to offer.I am planning on getting onions in the ground this week. Still have to wait till closer to mothers day in our area to plant anything else.
