  • I agree Su-Bee. Food was my first TRUE LOVE. I rather have it than booze!

I did give up drinking for the most part. I went from March 4th 2008 til Christmas without a drop and managed to make it though many birthdays, parties, holidays, and other celebrations while still having fun. I decided to drink on Christmas day and felt like total crapola the next day. It was horrible! I've been on the wagon ever since. I have also rid myself of a lot of weight during this time.

I think back to my childhood and how much fun we had without a drop to drink, just playing, talking and hanging out. I decided I wanted that genuine happiness again, and I have found it. I might also add that I think I had a pretty serious budding drinking problem.
  • My favorite fun drink is a margarita and I was so shocked when I crunched the numbers on the jumbo gold frozen drink that DH and I typically had once a week. It was over half of my daily calories!

We switched to a sugar-free mix, but the majority of calories are in the tequila and triple sec.

I recall when I was doing WW and we were discussing margaritas, my leader had mentioned that if we had to have one, just have the shot of tequila and eliminate a lot of the calories. LOL!
  • Your body views alcohol as poison. So as long as it is in your system, it puts the fat burning process on hold. Your body stops burning fat because it is focusing on getting the alcohol out of your system. I love drinking, but I know it sabotages my weight loss goals. Instead of drinking just because it is "Friday" I try to only drink if it is a special occasion or event.
