Weight and Pant sizes?

  • I think too - that the wearer makes a huge difference, what they tolerate in fit.

I like to wear my clothing comfortable, but know other people - in real life- who will cram themselves into a much smaller size merely because they don't want to wear a larger size, or because they're losing weight and need to see a smaller size, for motivation.

Whatever works. As long as we look/feel good, then cool.
  • I'm a size four petite (at 115) in most pants, though I've found small sixes and large twos that fit me well. I've met women who wear smaller sizes than me, are at my height, and weigh more since they're more busty than I - it really all depends.
  • Quote: And, of course, everyone carries their weight differently. Someone who is pear shaped is going to wear a larger pants size than someone who has 42DD boobs at the same height and weight.
And sometimes I feel really lucky my 44DDDs haven't shrunk in about 60 pounds! I am 5'1", 216 pounds and comfortably in a size 16. Last time I wore a size 16, I was at 175 pounds, but I did not work out.

At my highest, I was 274 and wearing size 22s, albeit some were getting a little tight on me!

That being said, I think that if my boobs don't start shrinking as my weight goes down more, I'm gonna start looking like I should topple face-first because of the weight on my chest
  • I know what you mean... I weight 220 and I am currently a size 18. My boss, who weights 190, is a size 20.

The women in my family are very solid and very massy. My Mom is a size 3 right now, she weighs 150!

So aside from hight it also depends on how much muscle you are carrying.
  • I'm 5'6", a size 14/16 in pants, depending upon the designer.

For instance, I fit size 16 jeans in Tommy Hilfiger, but I have size 14 jeans from Zellers. Go figure?!? I do enjoy that I take a 14 though

My goal is to get down to a size 10.

Oh yeah, the manufacturer/designer makes a difference too!

I wear a size 14 in Ann Taylor, but a size 10 in Eddie Bauer. My jeans are Levis - size 12s. My favorite black pants are from The Limited, size 10. My brown pants are from ... I'm not sure where, but they're a size 14 (a tiny bit loose, but not loose enough to go from a 14 to a 10). I have 4 skirts from Target - one a size 12 and three a size 10 - and they all fit perfectly.

So sizing is just way to varied for me to worry about a size difference.

    .
  • It definitely depends on body type, and with me my body type has changed throughout my life.

At 23 years old and 225 lbs, I wore a size 22/24. Now, in my mid-30s and 3 kids later (hello, hips!) I wear a size 18 at 213 lbs.
  • Height would definately make a different. I'm 4'9" 147lbs and I wear a size 14 in jeans. Another woman of the same weight who was 5'5" would likely wear a much smaller size. Proportion also makes a difference. My jeans often have to have the waist taken in because my butt is so big and my waist is not. If my butt wasn't so proportionally larger, I would wear a smaller size. And if you want to get really weird, I only wear a 2 or 4 on top (though I usually buy my t-shirts bigger).
