  • Good evening, ladies! I hope you've had a lovely day. The sun shone today and it was only in the low 80s so it was perfect.

I went to Curves after work. I'm finally feeling 100% again so I'll get back into my grove. We're having a going away for one of the trainers tomorrow night. The owner is providing wine, ham biscuits and desserts. She asked us to bring a healthy, low calorie appetizer. Guess I better dig the cookbooks out.

Faye, I hope your tummy has settled down. No fun to have digestive problems.

Jean, Congratulations on the new sewing machine. I have 3. I had 4 but one was so old I couldn't get parts for it anymore so it had to go. I keep one set up for straight stitching, one for freemotion quilting, and use the other for whatever else I need to do. I also have a serger...and 4 irons. Serious quilters tend to overdo the irons and sewing machines...and fabric.

    Have a good night!
  • Good morning to you ladies! I got an email from my dd yesterday and one of her friends has a little girl they took to the doctor for some bruising and within a couple hours she was at St Jude's getting chemo as she has leukemia. The little thing is only three years old. I ordered 3 Debbie Ware toddler hat patterns (see pics of patterns) and I am going to make her some girly hats for fall when her hair falls out. They live in the city so they have to drive back and forth everyday for her chemo so we just gave Kelly money to give them and a Visa gift card. Don't know what to do in situations like that. I don't want to embarrass them, but it costs a lot to eat at a hospital and use gas up everyday so I thought they could probably use the money. Besides, if you can't use your money to help people once in awhile, it's a shame.

Susan: Glad you are back a 100% and can get back to Curves. We have had a bit cooler weather, but it is still pretty warm here. I am still battling a weird queasy stomach that kind of comes and goes, but I am sure it will right itself. Nowadays, nothing surprises me.

Jean: Glad the seminar wasn't too bad. Maybe your keys are in the same place as Susan's quilt squares, hiding so you can't go back to school.... Jack is bad about laying his work keys down then forgetting them when he leaves for work. I have tried to get him to always put them on the keyhook, but seems he can't do that so he forgets them on a fairly regular basis.

Well gals, I need to get my morning chores going. Have a great Friday and nice weekend.

  • Good evening, ladies!

I've had a very pleasant day. Worked out at Curves, did some Trader Joe shopping and got some great Greek style yogurt along with my other groceries. I love shopping there, even if it is on the other side of town. There was a going away party for one the Curves trainers who is moving to Germany tonight. I had a very nice time. And I got a good cake recipe - 1 box of angel food cake mix mixed with 1 can of sugar free cherry pie filling or I can of pineapple. Mix it all up (don't put water in the cake mix) and bake it in a tube pan. It was delicious and low calories as well.

Tomorrow is house cleaning/laundry day and I'll get some quilting time in there.

Faye, those hats are adorable - too bad it's for a sick child. I hope she does well.

Jean - hope school didn't get you down today.

    Good night!
  • Good morning ladies! Hope you find your weekend starting out well! I am beginning to think I may have an ulcer. I have had a lot of acid reflux and seem to be having the queasiness in the morning when my stomach is empty. I am going to talk to Dr Wheat when I see him about it. It may be a side effect (the acid reflux) to my surgery and I need to know what to do about it. Always something, I guess.

Susan: I wished we had some cool food stores like Trader Joes, Whole Foods, stuff like that. I love shopping for fresh fruits and veggies and fresh breads, etc and there is nothing here even remotely like that. I do have to admit though that our Super Target has wonderful fruits and veggies that are good looking and fresh and they have a nice bakery, deli, cheese section too. Oh, where did you get your green bags? Target didn't have them when I shopped there last and I would like to get some. If all else fails, I will pay the extra and order them online.

Well, Jack wants some breakfast so better get up and going. Everyone have a fine weekend.

  • Good morning ladies!

Faye, I got the green bags at Walgreens. They were in the section "As Seen on TV". $9.99 for 20 bags - but you can reuse them many times. I've seen them at Walmart and Riteaid as well. Our Target has been undergoing an addition and remodeling. I hope they are making it a Super Target. I just saw in the newspaper today that a new grocery store is opening called Fresh Foods in November or December. Sounds interesting.

Hi, Jean - and Gail and Maggie!

    I'm off to Curves.
