I am also using the back pain secondary to my size as my exercise/wt loss motivator. I am no longer considered overweight by BMI, but I currently wear a 36H, so I would have a different opinion.

I'm going to see where I'm at as I get closer to goal. And, thanks for starting this thread. I looked for a similar one in the past and couldn't find one.

I imagine I'll have one done after I stop losing weight and maintain for a while. I currently buy 36DD-34DDD for the bigger "girl". I'd really like the get into a C, and like Tomato said have both be same size. Plus, by the time I'm done losing weight I'm sure they'll need some, er, redirection.

I guess I need to start saving my pennies for a saggy day.

Yeah, I am glad I am not alone at all thinking the way I do. I would love to be a nice 36 "B" (a full B). I may end up talking to some surgeons this summer when I am feeling more inspired and closer to goal. You never know. Maybe hubby will spring for it early if I work REAL hard?!?!

Actually, I was going to buy myself a kayak when I hit goal, but maybe I will make the kayak my last "rolling goal" (a non-food treat after every 10 pound loss) and make a boob job my big #1 goal!

Since like 6th grade, I've always had 36DDDs...except when I was pg...then they were freaking BIGGER (38G...H?!). And that thing about them shrinking after pregnancy? Totally false. They are just as outrageous now as they were pre-baby.

Yeah mine only shrank when I lost 125lbs, then they grew to what they are now and I have lost another 60lbs and they are the SAME size (ish). Was a 38DD, lost 60 lbs and now teeter between a 36DDD and a 38DD. GRRR

I have been thinking about all this for a while now. I have 4 girls, ages 11, 8, and twins that are 6. With my weight gain, by breasts felt they had "substance" and I would say I was in a 38 C/D. Now losing the weight, my breasts feel like empty sacks of skin. Not only that, my stomach skin is pretty stretched out from carrying my twins. The more weight i lose, the baggier my tummy is. I don't think I could bring myself to have a tummy tuck. I had a c-section with my oldest daughter and I had a hard recovery. I just have been thinking more about my breasts. It has been somewhat depressing. I have noticed I have been more self-concious with my husbands touch and insecure. He doesn't make any comments, its just how I feel about it. I think my biggest concern is the recovery. With having 4dd's, 2 dogs, a cat and being a stay at home mom, I am pretty busy! My sisters and my mother live in Arizona, so I don't have them available to help out if I do the surgery. For those of you that have had a "pick-me-up" surgery, what kind of recovery period did you encounter?

To all thinking about a breast reduction... It was the best thing I have ever done. I had a reduction back in 1995. Since that surgery, alot of life has happened. I had a child in 1997, I didn't even try to breast feed and don't think that I would of been able to. It took about 4-5 years for total sensation to come back to the nipple area. I was told that the nerves grew back about 1/4" a year.

I was a yo yo dieter, lose 20-25lbs then gain it back. Prior to surgery I NEVER lost weight in my chest area. Since surgery, I gain and lose accordingly. Prior surgery I was 42DD after surgery 36B. Shock!!!! but after getting used to them LOVE THEM! I had my mom with me the first week when my DH would be at work, which I am glad she was there. The first time I took a shower was the first time I took the bandages and surgical bra off, my mom was with me. I got a little faint, it was not a pretty site with all the stitches and bruising, my mom was great support. The part that was the sorest was where they did lipo under the arm pits (black and blue forever). I was out of work for two weeks recovering.

Even after the last 13 years, having a child, gaining and losing weight, I love my breasts. They do not hang to my belly which I am sure they would if I did not have the surgery. My back does not hurt anymore, I do not have indentions in my shoulders and my fingers do not go numb.

I know I may have went off rambling a little, but I get so excited to share this with anyone that wants to know. I would do it over in a heartbeat. It totally changed my life. Oh... one more thing my DH was totally for it, he didn't want to see me in pain any more and lucky me he is not a boob man but a leg man!

I'm a nurse and I was back at work after 2 weeks. I couldn't lift or pull and I was sore as **** but I was able to work as long as I had them ace wrapped. I think 4 weeks off of work would have been better. After the surgery, I took vicodin for about 3 days and then I only needed tylenol. I wasn't able to do any strenuous housework for the first couple of weeks or so, but I was cooking dinner and doing light cleaning after the first few days.

I honestly can't begin to explain how this surgery changed my life. I used to think about my breasts all the time because I was SO uncomfortable. I couldn't wear cute tops, I had to buy huge bras, my shoulders had indentations, I would get rashes, I felt like everyone was staring at me (and often times they were!!), dreading the summer because I was so uncomfortable....etc.

If you are thinking about this surgery....do it. Don't waste any more time....I promise you will never regret it.

I think once i have lost weight i might need a reduction. At the moment i'm a 38E and big boobs run in my family as far as i'm aware. I'm fed up of them, they get in the way far too much. A few of my friends also point them out every so often and i don't like it! Plus i'm fed up of the back ache i get after exercising. Hopefully they'll go down when i lose weight. May need a lift too, i shall just have to wait and see!

Its been 4 weeks since I had my breast lift / augmentation (and also tummy tuck) I have lost over 170 pounds (still working on it, godwilling hope to get down another 30lbs) and well my breasts were just flat empty sacks after losing over 20 inches in my bustline. So far so good on the recovery I feel great and I couldnt be happier with how it all looks. Im healing a little slow (smoker) opened up a little under each breast that should hopefully start to close up soon. I did follow the advice of quitting smoking before surgery and waiting a while after to start but would definitley reccomend anyone considering any type of plastic surgery to quit smoking , my dr warned me id be a slow healer due to the smoking and sure enough :P but I still at this point would do it all over again !

OMG I can't believe I found this thread. My doctor told me way back that after I lost weight, I would have to get breast reduction because women never lose there. Other health problems took priority, and I never followed up. Now that I'm slowly regaining my health, I've begun my weight loss program. I wondered about breast reduction and if it's better to have it done before or after weight loss. Does anyone out there know which is better? Or perhaps, what was considered in making the decision? Advantages, disadvatages either way? Thanks.

SeaWave, I'm not a doctor but I definitely advise against have BR surgery unitl after you're at or close to your goal weight. Weight loss will likely change the size and shape of your breasts a great deal. If you have surgery now, you may find that you wish your breasts are larger after weight loss. I think a lot of insurance companies won't approve the procedure unless you are within a certain weight range. I was seriously considering BR surgery before I lost weight. Then I decided I owed it to myself to lose weight first. I'm still large on top but not so large that I would want surgery to fix it. I'm actually quite content with my size now and know that if I lost another 10 pounds I'd be even smaller.
Good luck, and I hope this helps and doesn't discourage you. I don't know why your doctor would say that women never lose weight in their breasts. If you read enough on this forum you will find that a lot of women are unhappy to find that their breasts shrink with weight loss.

MileHi - Yeah, that's what most seemed to say, that there is loss allover. I actually don't find it discouraging at all - it's nice to know it may happen without surgery. I just wish it would happen soon, as I'm very top-heavy (i.e bottom is now about 3 sizes smaller than my top!) The only bras I can find that fit (and I don't have one that *really* fits!) look like body armour, and I'm looking forward to getting out of those!

I have already had breast implants and a lift. My reasons were because I never developed properly, basically the fold under the breast was too high so there was no roundness just flopping down, like man boobs. I was always self conscience about it, didn't feel feminine, so decided to do something about it. I did loss some sensation but mine was a different situation then most people so there was more involved. I know that once I reach my goal weight and stay there for a while I will most likely need another procedure and will definitely get that done when it comes time.

I got a reduction and lift 5 years ago and I absolutely love it. I was a DD but went down to a FULL B/small C They took off a total of 8 pounds. I felt so light when I finally completely healed. My stitches too tore open. But that was because I had to bend over and pick up my baby. When I bent over my left side tore and I could feel it. but the right side didn't, it just started coming apart on its own. I went for a 6 week check up I think it was and they had to restitch it in office. Man, did that hurt when they put the numbing shot but when they did the restitching I couldn't feel anything. At first my doctors told me to do physical therapy, tried it and didn't work. Then they said to lose weight, I did and still had neck and back and shoulder pain. So they finally gave me the ok to get a referral from my insurance and ended going to a plastic surgeon who also takes care of professional boxers like Ali. He was the best though. I did get alittle back when I got pregnant again but nothing to stress over. They actually look better now then when I got it done. Good luck.
