  • I love the way you listed yours almostheaven. That makes it so clear, doesn't it? What it takes to be heavy and what it takes to be thin and healthy. Honestly, it took me my whole life to figure that out.

And there it is in two simple columns.

Congrats on your achievements! (pre & post)

  • You all are great! Thanks for posting your lists! I'm getting a lot of inspiration on how to do this better from your healthy foods.

I was so honestly horrified by my list that I really kicked my own butt!

Tonight I went to the grocery and got fruits and vegetables! And other natural whole foods! Madness!

I even stood in the aisle and read about the different apples on display. Wow, there was like 10+ types of apples there! I heard Fuji was tasty, went with that one. It's been so long since my hand touched an apple, I thought something magical might happen, like me turning into a giant French Fry.

Instead of eating 3 large scoops of Breyer's with fudge sauce tonight after my nice stir-fry dinner of chicken and vegs, I had a small apple with peanut butter. Oh yeah, and MILK instead of wine!

It was really striking to see my awful choices there in black and white. Death by fork. Or by McBag.

I just cannot convince myself any more that eating 99.9% junk like that is acceptable...
  • My two favorite apples are the honeycrisps and the jazz ... both are a little expensive, but the flavor and crunch are so worth it. I'd blow my whole grocery budget on jazz apples if I could.

I keep meaning to try it! I've heard it's kinda like a turnip.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kohlrabi
  • never heard of it! i love me some turnip...so maybe i'll pick it up.
  • I've found it's not just in WHAT I ate vs. what I now eat, but also portion sizes. For instance, re: the Lucky Charms. Now, I rarely eat cereal. Usually I have a slice of whole wheat toast and an egg or some fruit, or yogurt, or oatmeal for breakfast. But on the ocassions that I do have cereal, it's Cheerios. Sometimes I'll buy Kashi. But since I rarely have cereal, I don't often get a special kind, and I keep Cheerios on hand for my son. I will NEVER bring Lucky Charms and Fruit Loops into my house. He may get them from time-to-time at other locations, but never at home. He'll just have to deal with it. LOL

But anyway, I now get approximately 1 CUP of cereal. I use a normal bowl and only fill it to a point that I know from previous measurements to be about 1 cup. Previously, I put Lucky Charms into a large mixing bowl, and I used about 1/4 gallon of whole milk...to where I drank the milk left after I ate the cereal. Now I put just enough SKIM milk on it to wet it. There's never any left for drinking.
