Am I the only one that struggles

  • I pigged out a bit much this weekend too. I really like the "idea" in the superfoods diet, to make every Mon soup and salad day partly to make up for any splurges throughout the weekend if we had any. I've been doing it lately, a clean Monday am breakfast, soup and salad for lunch then protein and veggies (no other carbs for dinner)... As for weekend munching, I've cleaned most of the junk out of my kitchen so I'm not doing as much damage: light popcorn, light beer or a bit of wine, chocolate, triscuits, etc are about as much damage as I can do at home, so long as I stay away from restaurants which I've been mostly making myself do. For me the key is not even having the temptations around - like chips which I used to eat an entire plate of with melted cheese, etc.
  • Yeah, I'm with you on this one. Just recently have I started to make *better* choices on the weekends, but not as nearly as good as I could make. Friday night is our night to eat out... unfortunately this is also the typical "eat lunch out" at the office day, too, so I try to make really healthy choices for breakfast and lunch, and let myself splurge a little on dinner. If I'm over by 100-200 calories, I don't sweat it.

However, I have found what really helps me is to have meals planned all the way through Sunday. I used to plan 3-4 meals a week and just figured we would wing it when it came to the weekends. Well, that ended up in DH and I eating out aaaaallllll weekend. When I actually plan for meals on the weekends, it keeps that quick trip to Little Caesar's (my downfall!) at bay.
  • Hey Bizzy - you sure are not alone on that one. I have trouble too. BUT, I always keep my freezer stocked now with the Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwiches or the WW Ice Cream Bars. Sometimes I will have 2 of them, but at 150 calories each, it's not TOO bad.

Better than eating a whole pack of double stuffed oreos, which sadly I used to do!

Keep the faith and surround yourself with low fat, low calorie sweets. Check out your grocers freezer and see what you come up with. Our local stores usually have sales on something and then I go to that store to re-stock.

    You will DO IT!
  • Ever consider buying the cookies and telling the little girl that she can take the boxes of cookies home to her mommy???
  • I've been thinking about posting a message that talks about when it (the diet plan) all falls apart. I can say it used to be as soon as I woke up. Then it was 10am. Now it is fluctuating b/w later afternoon and if I make it thru that-- the killer time is right after I put my kids to bed. That's the biggie for me.
But still-- I can call that progress, right?
  • Agreed--- I know it is ALL about breaking routine. On the weekdays? Easy! I bring to work and consume ONLY what I have available. I'm near my computer all day so I can brainstorm and fantasize about exactly WHAT will fit into the calories I have allotted for the rest of the night.

Weekends? Ummm... none of the above. Later waking times, later bedtimes, messed up routines, you never know where you'll be when the hunger hits...

It's definitely tough. But I manage. I go higher on weekends, but I stay lower on weekdays so thus far I get a weekly average that balances things out calorie-wise.

There is a DEFINIATE reason why I weigh in on Wednesdays, b/c mondays and tuesdays are just TOO close and I need some time to process and get rid of all that extra food in my belly!!!
  • I have or had! the same problem...i was really good during the week ,come the weekend loose all routine and damnit! lol So my boyfriend decided to buy lots of diff types of fruit, and whenever i get hungry for sweets he goes and slices them up and presents them pretty on a plate for me...works...really. good luck
  • Hi Bizzymom23. I know exactly where your coming from. I always do good on the weekdays, then the weekends comes & I somehow think that I deserve a reward for being so good all week long. I am giving all the stuff around the house that is there tempting me away, or throwing it out & replacing it with lower fat healthier choices. I too love the 100 calorie pack snacks. stay motivated!
  • Weekends are bad for me too. You have more time to eat and that's when a lot of people drink alcohol too. Try to go to the gym or workout more in the morning on the weekends. That way you will maintain a little bit more control over your choices. You can do it!
