I think it's safe. Is it easy? Heck, no!! I think it depends on the type of person you are & what works best for you. Most people quit one thing at a time. I'm the type that always seems to march to a different drummer: I figured if I was going to be "miserable" why not be really "miserable" & do it all at once! I did Medifast, quit carb overloading, sugars, caffeine & smoking all at once. As I remember, I was NOT so pleasant to be around the first couple of weeks! I think poor DH was scared of me for a little while there. It did get better & I got all that angst over with at once.

You got some great pointers on your diet & weaning yourself off caffeine. Having an afternoon snack of a little protein does help with the before dinner hungries. And if it doesn't seem like it's working to quit so many things at once, just take them one at a time. The important thing is to work on your goals (whatever method you choose). Good luck & let us know how it's going!
  • Fantastic feedback, wonderful women! Thanks to all. This plan was given to me by a nutritionist (or so she said, it was in a weight control centre that opened in my country short time ago) (!) so i was a bit shocked when i read your replies. It truly felt like very little food...
and i guess yeah, the "combo" as Mandalin called it, is a bit tough... perhaps it's just I'm fed up with carrying all these extra bits all over my body.
the smoking bit is great though, my system of course is cleansing itself, and i can really feel it, and my lungs are jumping around very happy to be let alone.
I will try to find a calorie book here, thanks for the idea.
    and this is definitely happening:
"Try the 1/2 decaf that was suggested - and a little less sugar. Then slowly eliminate the sugar and then the caffeine."... doesn't sound that hard to do... and since i usually have coffee and fag at the same time, no fags should equal no coffee, i mean, eventually, right?
and yeah, i will try to find a doctor or someone else to guide me instead

  • Wow!
Quote: and going on a 1800 calorie diet all at the same time? It's my sixth day without smoking and I've been trying to cut the coffee (hence sugar in it) and I have found myself shaking an starving around 5:00 pm which yesterday turned into a junk food disaster...
I've been feeling dizzy and today had to take some ibuprofen because couldn't stand the headache. Is this related with the not smoking or with the less food... anyone can give a hand? anyone gave up smoking and felt the same? heeelp!
Excellent advice above, Nightingale, but I wanted to congratulate you on the not smoking for six days -- you are an inspiration!! Please let us know how you are doing. Michele
