What plan do you follow?

  • Im not following any specific plan. I went from a junk food vegetarian to vegan recently and have shed about 10 additional pounds in the last month. I either keep track of calories on fit day or do points and home with my WW kit just to make sure I am keeping my food in check every week or so. Being vegan really helps me in many ways but in the sense of losing weight it makes it a lot easier to avoid temptations as most items have animals or animal byprouducts in it. My biggest downfall is frito lay scoops....and not excercising.
  • I'm counting calories using a program similar to Fitday but designed for Switzerland. I try to stay under 2000 calories a day. I also wear a pedometer and try to get at least 10,000 steps a day. I've found that writing keeping track of things this way keeps me focused, but not obsessed because I don't make any food off limits and I enjoy the time I spend walking.
  • I am doing the fat smash diet. It is going good so far. I lost 13 pounds in the first 9 days. The first phase of the diet you can't have meat it's moslty fruits and veggies so your body can detox. You don't have to count calories and you eat 4-5 small meals a day. I log the foods I eat into fitday and the calories are pretty consistent between 1800-2000 a day. I never liked calorie counting so I'm happy that I don't have to on this plan.
  • I'm doing WW online right now. I did South Beach a few years ago with a lot of success (till I went off the plan and gained it all back), so I'm thinking of doing both at the same time...

I considered the WW meetings, but I'm afraid I'd have to hurt someone if I had to sit around listening to people a lot smaller than me complain about how big they think they are... might have to whack someone...
  • I am a calorie counter too! Mainly because it is the easiest plan for me to follow.
  • hello everyone...
as a newbie...i don't have any specific plan just yet...mainly i am reading as much as i can about nutrition...a lot of good info at the mayo clinic web site
and i am keeping a food journal, actually a spreadsheet...its time consuming, but it is working for me, i enter EVERYTHING...and record the calories, fat, carbs, fiber, sugar and protein...
and if this are not already pre-measured, i measure and weigh everything right now. in time i hope to know better the correct portions sizes.

  • I'm counting calories and try to stick between 1200 and 1600. I haven't really stalled in my weight loss yet, but if I do, I will cut back on breads and add more proteins.

I count the calories because this is the way I'll have to live for the rest of my life. I don't consider it a diet, just a way of looking at food from a healthier perspective. I couldn't do a diet because every time I do, I eventually stop and gain it all back. This is the first time I've lasted more than 3 months and have not thought of it as a torture kind of diet thing.
  • I am not following anything except just good old healthily eating and lots of exercise. I am not one for following programmes or counting points, I’ve tried but I lose all sense of will to carry on… the changes I have made now are positive ones, I am saving money and my taste buds are enjoying trying new things!
