  • How about when you look at a half of cup of pasta or rice or something like that and think, WOW! I used to eat wayyyyy more than that

I don't miss that gross over-full feeling at all, in fact I seem to feel the need to announce how good I feel after eating a healthy meal!
  • Quote: Exactly. If I was good at portion control w/o points, I wouldn't be this size in the first place.
    Yep, pretty much my reasoning!

LOL -- I'm the exact same way (especially if you add mashed potatoes and cheese to that list)! I need the Flex limitations on portion size, and think of the program as a "re-educator." And I'm pretty sure I could NOT stay on any program long-term if it didn't allow for the occasional (albeit point-counted) treat.

I don't miss that over-stuffed feeling either! And being forced to get all those veggies and fruits in daily has really changed how I feel in my body...who knew?
  • I know for me, I HAVE to have the flexibility of deciding what to eat for myself, especially if I'm eating out or in someone else's home. Variety is important, as is the opportunity to have one of my favorite treats now and then.

Plus, it's like a game, looking at the points values of foods and trying to get the most food for the least points.

If you're having problems with having enough points throughout the day, why not plan each day ahead of time? Or... begin your daily points with dinner. This sounds weird, but it helped my mother out, she's been doing it for a long time. She starts her 24 hours worth of points at night at dinner time. She counts down her points, and then is able to split them up successfully for breakfast & lunch the next day. For whatever reason she's finding it helps her, it's a very mental thing, because you still get the same amount of points per day. *shrug*
OH! That is an excellent idea! Thanks Faerie! I have to try it, going over my points in the evening is my problem, exactly!

I stick with Flex because I like to cook and I like to be able to potentially eat whatever I want, even though I don't. When a "diet plan" puts something on the forbidden list for me then of course, I want that thing! On Flex I know that I CAN have it, but I generally won't when I'm in OP mode. It can be on my "not quite the best use of my points" list in my own head and then I feel like I am the one in control.

I also have an issue with being told what I can or cannot eat, usually guaranteed to send me running for the forbidden item. As for portion control, that's why I originally chose Flex - I need that.
Oops...how funny, you said it exactly! I should have read down further before my reply! I feel this way too. Back in the day I tried Atkins and was dying for a piece of bread...Carbo Addicts, could not stop eating after the evening meal, grapefruit and egg diet...mmhmm--no... fasting...forget about it!

Anyway, WW Flex is the only thing that I have ever maintained for over 2 years and I am back again with a mission to make it last for life! I emphasize core foods too, naturally, and lots of fiber, fresh veggies, etc. But I like being the one in control. Healthy eating makes me feel better! I plan better, I take my lunch to work every day, I cook almost every day, I save money by not buying takeout, it's all good!
