  • Hello flowers! I am having trouble with backaches because I am either in the recliner or having to sleep on my back so I am up sitting here posting just a bit.

I went with Jack to the store yesterday and rode in a scooter, but it wore me out so I have to try and take it easy today. We are still having a lot of trouble with my ostomy device and of course when you need help you can't find any. I am calling the case worker this morning and giving her a piece of my mind as they sent us home with few supplies with promises of this person or that contacting us and bringing us stuff and the case worker said my home health nurse would bring stuff, which she said she doesn't have but could order. We were out by Saturday and scrambling to try and find someplace on our own that had stuff in stock. We finally found a tiny 50 year old drug store clear out by the base so Jack took off out there on Saturday to get stuff. It has been sort of a nightmare with regards to that, but my incision is doing very well and I am able to be up and around little more each day.

Gloria: I had an abcess on my intestine that burst and they removed half my intestines and I am on a temporary colostomy bag until they heal and then they will go back and reattach everything. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks, still have daily wound care come in and Jack has to give me twice daily antibiotic infusions through my pick iv. It has been a learning situation.

Jean: Sounds like you have been busy!

Everyone take care and I will check in again when I feel up to it!
    Faye
  • Faye: That sounds like a tough time for you but with good care you will be your old self soon. Two weeks in the hospital is a long time, especially in this day when they usually have you in and out in a jiffy. The best thing is that you had good care and are on the mend. Don't try to do too much, let others do for you for a change. Prayers are with you. Gloria
  • Oh, my gosh, Faye, all this time I though you were visiting your son's family and you were in the hospital! I sort of know what you are going through. I've had intestines removed 3 times due to intestinal blockages so I now have about 1/3 what normal people have. I have to be careful of sugar and fat - intestinal problems you don't want to discuss if I have too much. I'm glad you are doing better. We've been dealing with home health care for 19 months now. They are great about bringing supplies, though. We have a little family-owned drug store that still compounds prescriptions and has all kinds of stuff you can't find in a regular drug store. I hope you are well on the road to recovery.

I seem to have had a relapse in my recovery - I have no voice today. No temperature or anything, just can't talk. I feel okay so came on to work.

Jean, I hate to turn the clocks. Unfortunate, the poor cat doesn't understand people time, he just knows his breakfast is late and he needs to get me up and going. Last night he went upstairs at 9 pm, then came back down 15 minutes later and sat in front of me meowing - we always go to bed at 10 and he was sure something was wrong that I hadn't come up yet.

Gloria, good to hear from you. Sounds like you had a fun Halloween.
  • Good Evening. Flowers! It is getting dark and has been a dark, dreary, and very windy day in my corner of the world. It even "feels" like winter outside. School was SSDD kind of day. A couple of boyfriend/girlfriend combinations were absent today . . . wonder if they were all together some place.

"Gma" -- I hope you are feeling better! What a pain for you and Jack to have to chase down supplies when they were supposed to come to you! I hope everything is going better along that line. You take care and let the others do the work for you!

Susan -- I had to at your story about your cat. When we had Leonard we used to refer to the time change as Leonard's tummy time or was it the "real" time. He had a hard time with the time change! He was always ready to eat, but we only fed him twice a day since he would only eat canned food, and was a fat cat to boot. There is alot of the "crud" going around at school. One of the teachers I work with had no voice on Friday and she was gone today with a sinus infection. I guess she isn't coming back tomorrow either. I'm debating on a flu shot -- I don't usually get them, but don't want to catch anything this year either. I rarely get sick but when I do I really get sick. I hope you are feeling better too!

Bob is at church for practice so I should get the kitchen picked up before he gets home. I haven't even looked at the mail yet. Have a terrific Tuesday tomorrow. Remember to !

    Jean -- from Iowa!
