  • My kids love the things. They have them every night as a snack. Orange, Banana, Strawberry. I happen to like to mix all three of them together. Ok, I have no idea how to make them without this mix I found lol. They are low in fat and calories but high in really taste good lol. If nothing else we get the milk and fruit that is needed for a good diet right there in that smoothie.
  • Quote: whats psyllium?
A fiber powder, much like metamucil (in fact, I think metamucil contains psyllium). I get it at the health food store.
  • If anyone has one they would like to share. I would like a smoothie recipe that uses bananas or strawberry's or both and yogurt.
  • This is my favorite smoothie:

    Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana

1 scoop chocolate whey protein powder
1 tablespoon peanut butter (I use creamy)
    1 small-medium frozen banana
1 cup skim milk (you can use water but I prefer milk)
  • Gina
Where does one buy chocolate whey protein powder. I bet my kids would love that. I know they like the chocolate banana smoothie mix I buy.

The smoothie mixes I am getting right now have

    100 calories 16oz serving
    0 fat
    0 cholesterol
    10 sodium
    13 carbohydrates

Of course those amounts are before milk and what ever fruit you put in
  • I use Designer Whey Chocolate (I can't have soy). I get it at Vitamin Shoppe but GNC and Vitamin World likely have it as well.

Smoothies are very flexible. This is what mine often turn out to be:
    3/4 c. plain yogurt
    1/2 c. frozen strawberries
    1/4 c. frozen blueberries
1/2 frozen overripe banana (you can buy them overripe and discounted at the grocery store, peel them and throw them in the freezer!)
    1/2 - 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1/8 c. orange juice - OJ seems to really add an interesting dimension
tablespoon or two of ground flax seed
  • Luminous

Oh that sounds so good. Guess I am going to have to get some of that powerdered stuff lol. I have only been eating regular foods don't have anything like that in the house.
  • Yay! Thanks for the recipes ladies; I'm so going to be trying these out this next week.

I don't make a "smoothie" persay, but I do mix frozen strawberries, water, and a little Splenda to get my ICEE fix...better than hitting up BK!
