Actually, I have to disagree with you on one point there. I don't think the "skinnies" are praised. The celebrities you mention (Calista, Keira, and Renee) have ALL fought off vicious media attacks claiming they are anorexic.
And the "large women", like Queen Latifah, are only praised when they LOSE weight. In fact, in general, I think the only praising I ever see from the media is when women
lose weight. Examples include Queen Latifah, Renee Zellweger, Hilary Duff, Kirstie Alley, Reese Witherspoon, Star Jones.... Everyone one else falls into the "flabby" or "anorexic" categories--there's no in-between.
The whole media exploitation of women's bodies just to sell newspaper and tv ads is really a sickening symptom of how degenerate entertainment culture has become.
