I had a tummy tuck, and I definitely didn't consider it vanity surgery. Most TTers have them because of severe pain and/or fungal infections from skin folds rubbing together. It feels like blisters from new shoes, but under the fold of the belly. I had to learn tricks like using ointment right out of the shower, and pressing my underwear along the crease, and then letting it fold over underneath my stomach, just so I could get through the day. I constantly had to readjust. When I came home, I washed/dried and usually put on some maternity shorts that had a cool lace front so I could have something fresh but comfortable. And I always wanted to lay as soon as possible so I could 'spread out'.
I was an extreme case - not everybody gets that extra skin, and not to that degree. I was one of the unlucky ones that didn't have much elasticity in the skin. So don't let me scare anybody.

My point was just that this isn't vanity, it is a relief. Face lifts and cheekbone implants are my idea of vanity.

I think even putting on makeup is much more a display of vanity than a tummy tuck!
