  • Aw, dangit Jay, I am living in a delusional world where steamed veggies and exercise do not exist. I will do what I have to do, but I am going to kick and scream all the way there! I really need to start exercising, I currently do just occasional walking. I know how good it is for weightloss but i just hate it. We have a stationary bike just sitting there staring at me...I guess I could put it to good use!

You'll do what you have to do! Steamed veggies or not...

That's a little high- muscle burns about 50 calories per kilogram (about 2.2 pounds). You need to do resistance training to increase muscle mass enough to have it start to help you. Increasing cardiovasular exercise (running, walking, spinning) burns calories, but doesn't build muscle.

And steamed vegetables, salads and good lean protein is a great way to eat.

The alternative to drastically reducing calories to keep losing at the same pace is to accept that the last 10 pounds or so will just take longer. If you get to goal having lived on 1000 calories, you may find that your body has a really hard time adjusting to a higher level without piling on the pounds.
