  • Wow, Faye, a 5k at 6 years old - that kid is sure a winner and a great start at a healthy life!

Took Stan to dialysis last night and found his out patient surgergy was scheduled for noon today - so nice that they finally told us. I'm afraid I wasn't too nice about that. He had an uneventful treatment last night but the access site is getting swollen and sore so it does need to be changed.

Going to be 80 today - then back to 60's tomorrow. Must be March in Virginia...soon I can start complaining about the heat and humidity and wishing for winter. Pollen is terrible right now - everything is yellow and I'm sneezing my head off (tree allergy to be followed by grass).

Faye, I know you are excited to get on your trip - have a great time and don't even think about WW until you get home.
  • Good Evening, Flowers! It has been a cloudy, gloomy day, and has just started to rain in my corner of the world. It is 20 degrees cooler than yesterday . . . such weather! Today was another ssdd kind of day at school. The kids are testy and so are the teachers.

"Gma" -- I'd say Thomas did a super job to finish running a marathon! He should be very proud of himself! Thanks for sharing the picture with us. You will have a busy day tomorrow! I can imagine how excited you are to see everyone. I'm sure the shower will be the most fun! I did go to WW tonight and gained a pound . . . I knew I was up just because of the way I ate over the weekend. You'd think someone held my mouth open and shoved the food down. I hope the weather cooperates so I can get some walking in this week.

Susan -- I hope Stan's surgery went ok. Do they keep him overnight or is it the same day/send them home kind? Our weather is mixed up too. I don't want it to be too hot until we get out of school because we don't have air conditioning in our building. I hope your allergies aren't too bad.

I need to keep moving. Have laundry going that I didn't get done over the weekend. I feel like I am moving in slow motion this week! Have a wonderful Wednesday tomorrow!

    Jean -- from Iowa!
  • There - that should help your resist temptation from the "bad" foods that just jump on your plate.

Jean, allergies make my asthma flare so I'm miserable from March through June (trees and grass) then have a respite until September to frost. I have learned to be calm when I feel like the next breath is not going to come, but it's still gets scary when it starts hurting to breath.

Faye, have a great time and a safe trip.

Stan's procedure went well...and only 2-1/2 hours behind schedule...after they called for me to bring him in a little earlier. Dr. doing his procedure had a heart surgery before him and it ran into complications. Hopefully we can finally get a good dialysis treatment. We both have a lot more confidence in this surgeon.
  • Good afternoon ladies! Last post until I get back on Tuesday. I have been running my head off today. It started bad this morning. Jack filled the tank with gas then wanted to check the oil and couldn't get the hood to unlatch. I took him to work then went to Firestone where they spent 45 minutes and couldn't get it unlatched either, {{{SIGH}}} so they recommended the dealership, which you all know means $$$$$. I took it over there, they told me they would charge me $100 plus supplies just to look at it but we couldn't leave with it that way so I spent 90 minutes there. Come to find out, the last time we had it in at Firestone, one of the techs left a bandaid AND a bolt on the latch and it caused it to become stuck. I don't know how they did that, but I was seething as it cost me $112 to have them unstick it and remove the bandaid and bolt. I drove straight to Firestone and unloaded on them. I have to say the manager was great. He credited our account for the amount in free work so that was ok. I then went to Walmart's and got the odds and ends for the trip and bought Thomas this cute singing card for his 5K accomplishment and stuck a $20 bill in it with a little note. It took his fat Nonny 90 minutes to walk a 5K 3 years ago and he ran it in 41 minutes! I then went and got my haircut, went and got the oil changed since the hood worked and lastly went and got the car all washed inside and out and spiffed up for the trip. I came home and loaded the stuff I can into the back seat, the trunk is already full of stuff. So, when Jack gets home we will go get his haircut, get a bite to eat as I don't want a mess to clean up tonight, then come home and finish loading up what we can. I will load the hygiene bag after we have cleaned up in the morning along with the laptop, pillows and such.

Jean: I am down from 3 lists to one! lol

Susan: I am taking "good" snacks like fruit and some 2 pt packaged snacks on the trip along with diet soda and water and am going to do my darndest to stay close to program so I won't balloon back up. I gain and lose pretty easily so I don't want a bunch of lbs back on when I get home.

You all have a nice weekend when it gets here! I will take lot of pictures of the shower and friends and all and post them after I get back and get them developed.
