What a fabulous reminder, arriving and departing.....'take a moment for yourself'................Honestly, for me, if they just rubbed my hands and feet the whole time I'd be even happier. They can keep the polish!
You have become so good at recognizing when you need to ask for help.....I suspect by time I even post this message today, you will have friends who will assist with the packing.
I too, have been back and forth mentally about living arrangements but in all scenarios I need to make some updates etc where I am now. And that idea, depending on the day is difficult....
Some days reality is still very sharp and jagged.
Empress, your marathon sounds very intriguing. I am resistant to phone apps.... Don't have any idea why except perhaps the cost... and I'm not quite sure my phone is a 'smart phone' anyway.
I am physically and mentally relieved that the holidays are behind us---I learned more lessons about expecting too much from myself. Just Tues night, the leader of a group I belong made a remark that I still hear: "The death of a loved one changes us---forever.".................sometimes in ways we would never expect; for instance, now being unable to balance a checkbook.
What echos again and again is this " Changed forever"...............Some things you know instinctively but to hear 'an expert' (who has not had a loss) discuss 'the studies'---its very affirming.
Guess there is nothing as good as being told you are right....even if they didn't know what you were thinking ......

Staying Mindful During the Winter Months
As we approach the winter months, it gets to be more of a challenge to not only stay warm (if you live in seasonal
climates) but also stay positive, connected to our bodies and relaxed. Stress can appear when we hear snow is on the way,
upper body and lower back pain can appear from time spent outdoors shoveling. But with a little commitment and
intention, you can take some steps to use mindfulness to create some peace in your days:
Use your meditation as a visualization tool: Winter is a natural time to turn inward and mindful visualization can help.
Whether it’s a goal, a sense of how you want to carry yourself, a feeling you wish to embody or even visualizing warm
weather and thoughts of the beach, it’s a fantastic time to connect to thoughts that are calming, soothing and relaxing.
Watch for triggers that create stress and eliminate them from your day: If you know watching the local news creates
stress when snow is on the way, avoid it. If that co-worker in your office always complains about his or her drive into
work, stay away. If rushing to get to work in the snow makes your heart race, talk to your boss about some leeway in
schedule on days when snow is expected. Plan to take care of yourself.
Stay connected to things that remind you of good weather: A seashell on your desk, fresh flowers in your house, going
to sleep with the sounds of the ocean coming from your iphone app, eating fruits and vegetables and lots of fresh foods;
these can all work to keep you healthy on the inside and out.
Take advantage of the weather to do seasonal things: Instead of fighting the weather, take advantage of activities that
make sense in the cold. Snowshoeing, skiing, ice skating or snowy day runs and brisk walks all can feel refreshing, keep
you healthy and give you a sense of adaptability.
