I'm glad that the dog is on it's way to wellness. He's got a good mommie.

    Annie
Maybe it's time to rearrange the furniture or you are exhausted. LOL about Bella.

    Laura
Glad that the pedometer is now working. I didn't have but 3,000 steps last night at bed time so this was all due to inside walking and cleaning.

    Happy
Don't work to hard today. Have you finished your project?

    Shad
I'm with the other's you deserved a day off to relax.

    Mel
Are you snuggles in bed? Enjoy your day.

It's raining here and I'm ready for it to go away. I'm also cleaning some "hotspots" a fly lady term this morning before I head over to Paragould for the week end. My hip seems to be better today. I sat in the message chair last night and that really helped. I may have over done it when I helped the boss move furniture. It's time for me to get off the computer and get busy again.
I also read on another websight that Patty is sick. I also found out that there were 3 lineman, plus on of the bosses involved when the transformer blew up but they were all burned. The boss has burns on his hands but two of the linemen will get to come home today. One is still in critical condition.

  • Morning all,

It is morning as well and very early at that. I've got up early to try to get things done before the heat hits. Supposed to get up to 32C today and we have another dust storm on the way. Lucky I got all the washing done yesterday. And I can see the storm approaching. It's just a line on the horizon at the moment, but growing. This one is not expected to be as bad as the last one.

Mel - sorry to hear that Jen and Richie are both sick. No doubt the stress from the old man is catching up with them. So you are the gofer this weekend for rugs, elevators, offices etc. Just open the door, point and go. You'll be okay.

Ceejay - you can still send over that rain. It might just settle some of the dust around the place, although I guess if the rain settled it, we would have a street absolutely gleaming with orange/ red muck and mud. Ewwwwww.

Laura - good to hear that you are slowly getting it back together again with food and exercise. Glad it is you and not me having the boob squish - don't want to think about that until next year again.

Annie - Nice that you and the boy are to have some time together today. Make the most of it.
You are very energetic - cleaning out the kitchen at work. Some people are such pigs. Makes me wonder if they do that sort of thing at home as well.

Michelle - poor little doggie. But at least is enjoying the soup. Hope the meds work.

Happy - Not long to go before the weekend. Whats planned at your place for this happy occasion?

Okay - the dust cloud haze is getting closer and a breeze is coming up. Time to get on with what I can outside before it takes hold. The DS2 is going to Goondiwindi for the weekend. 4 hour drive. He and some mates (both male and female) are going to the 'Plucked Duck' Ball. I hope they can find something to 'pluck' through the dust. Or shouldn't I say things like that. Anyway I am out of here.
  • Hello Ladies,

I have been sick for the last 7 days. Started as upper respiratory and then turned into Bronchatis. I have never in my life missed 5 days of work. I think my body was so worn out from the stress of job, then getting the job and still stressed out.
Anyway, i'm the road to recovery, we'll i keep saying that. I am feeling better though.

It will take me a while to catch up. Hope all are doing well.

Oh, on the good note, i lost 5 pounds...of course not the way i wanted to take it off, but if i'm gonna be sick, might as well have something good come out of it.
  • Late last week, one of New Zealand's best loved entertainers passed away. Sir Howard Morrison was from the same era as Elvis (you could almost say he was the NZ version of Elvis since their music choices were similar - only Sir Howard lasted longer. I can remember this man at the State Theatre in Wellington in the Miss New Zealand Show. His voice at that time was so powerful, he didn't need amplification. He could fill the theatre and he didn't need backing music to hold to tune. He had a voice like brown velvet. Believe it or not, there were a lot of us who would have been very happy for him to put his guitar in our closet!

The link above is to a YouTube recording of Sir Howard Morrison singing 'How Great Thou Art (Whakaria Mai). I hope it works for you.

  • Hey Mel,
I ran the aircon last night. Works fine - probably because the external unit is on the south side of the house and protected from the west. We don't get dust storms like this often and yesterdays one was much less choking than the previous one. Only Sydney copped it bad - although I can see dust all over the floor and it is very dry outside which causes problems with the nose etc. So it is fine to come on down. We will just shut the doors and windows and turn on the A/c. Eat bread and honey. Shame you can't get YouTube. A lot of it is rubbish, but some of the music is wonderful. Even our pollies have a go at it and try to get to the young folk - mostly an exercise in futility - politically using the technology.

Patty - sorry to hear that you have been so sick. Lost 5 pounds huh? Now to get it to stay off.

Now that the dust is clearing and settling, I have plenty of work to do inside. Yesterday was extremely warm so didn't get too much done. It's difficult to clear and clean when you leave blobs of sweat behind. So I'll be running to catch up today. I've also got to try and find that builder. He doesn't seem to be answering emails right now. I want those verandah posts done asap as I found termites in one yesterday. Only seems to be one. But it's scary. Where else have the little buggers gone.

So while it is cool, I'm off to have breakfast and get into the hot work - later I can play with water cleaning to keep cool. Just gotta plan the day.
  • HAPPY SUNDAY

HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT DAY. YESTERDAY WAS ONLY ABOUT 8 HOURS ALL TOGETHER. AND IT RAN LIKE A WELL OILED MACHINE. OPEN AND CLOSE AND OPEN AND CLOSE. THE RUG LOOKS FINE TO ME AND THE HOST OF THE PC IS UP AND RUNNING...WAITING FOR TOMORROWS INSTALLATION OF ALL THE NEW PCS. NOT MY JOB!! NOTHING NEW HERE. THE KIDS FEEL BETTER. I HAD A TOUCH OF THE "LOO" BUT AM FINE. LOOKING FORWARD TO A SILENT SUNDAY.

SHAD~ GLAD THE A/C ISN'T ALL CLOGGED UP WITH DUST. I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THE INTAKE PART WOULD HAVE DRAWN IT IN. HOPE YOU STAY COOL TODAY. HOW DID DS LIKE THE BALL. LOOKED FANCY AND VERY NICE TO ME. HOW IS THE BATTLE OF TERMITES GOING? DID YOU GET THE CONTRACTOR? MAYBE HE WAS AT THE BALL!!
  • Happy Sunday all.

Annie - Hope your good night's sleep streak is continuing!!

Ceejay - one of the burned men is still in critical condition? That's awful. I'll keep praying. Hope the hip is improving. Massage chair - ahhh.

Mel - Glad your Saturday went well and that Jen and Richie are feeling better. LOL, yes, 55 not 5! I'll take 55!! The movie Extract was entertaining. Not exactly a dark comedy, but it was funny. Jason Bateman was good, Ben Affleck was alright too - wow, had him looking very scruffy/shaggy as a bartender with less than legal side businesses.

Patty - Sorry you've been so sick. Five days is a long time to be out! Glad you're feeling better.

Shad - Glad the dust storm isn't as bad as the last. Will this dust shorten the life of your AC unit? Hope not. Sounds awfully hot there, and you're not even into summer yet! Not the time for the ac to conk out. I'll have to check out the Morrison and Plucked Duck links.

Everything okay here. Rained some on Thurs & Fri. Yesterday was gloomy part of the day, but no rain, so that was good. Boob squish went okay, but glad that's over for another year. Now I'm told it's time for a baseline bone density test. Oy. Will discuss w/ my doc when I see him next month. Spent the rest of the day shopping, ugh. Bought all new bath ensemble at Bed, Bath & Beyond to go with the new shower curtain - towels, rugs, soap dispenser, tumber, etc. I've now used up all the BBB gift cards I'd received the past couple years. Bf & I were totally burnt out by the time we left (even after bf said he was visiting the loo and detoured to sit in the massage chair on display, lol). Still, after stopping at home to walk and feed doggy (I walked, bf fed), we went out again to Hobby Lobby to check into an idea we have for hanging artwork in our hall. Only been an empty wall for 9+ years. (Home improvement projects move veeery slowly at our house Shad.) I didn't wear my pedometer yesterday, but Friday's steps ended just shy of 6,000. And that excludes my morning bike to the train (how would that register I wonder?), and no steps after work Fri evening - bf picked me up cuz it was raining. Dang - have to retrieve my bike from the train station today or I'll be taken by surprise when I go out to the garage tomorrow morning!!

    Have a great Sunday everyone!
  • Good morning all,

Guess I forgot to post yesterday. Ripping through closets making a much BIGGER mess than when I started. I should just hall the boxes right to the front trash and save myself the effort. Nothing much going on, just trying to get this done. I don't know what happened to yesterday but I have a ton of things to do today - more laundry, shopping and the clean up from yesterday.

Tonight my favorite show - The Amazing Race starts a new season so I have to get alot done in a few hours if I want to be ready to watch at 7pm.

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend.
  • And it is MONDAY again!!!

This year is flying past so fast it isn't funny. Maybe I am having too much fun. Doesn't the saying go... 'times flies when you are having fun'

The aircon only drags in stuff and dust when it is going. I don't turn it on very often until we get into summer and the humidity. I've washed the outside unit down this morning and will get DS2 to clean the filters sometime this week. Poor guy - sometimes wonder why he comes home.

Apparently he enjoyed the Plucked Duck Ball. I look forward to seeing the photos, but then again maybe I don't.

Laura - bone density test? Not another one to add to the warrant of fitness list. What with boob squishes, pap smears, eyes, ears, feet, etc I'm going to be spending a lot of time in a doctors surgery in the future. I suppose it keeps them in business.

Happy - it always seems to make a real mess cleaning out those wardrobes. I take things out, put them back, decide to get rid of them, decide to keep them and then go get a big plastic bag and put them in it and take it to the op shop before I change my mind again.

Mel - you are sounding better. Are you sure you haven't taken over the Queens job? She is always opening and closing things.

Right - grocery shopping first thing. Worked out the menu yesterday. Went out for a walk this morning with my friend Chris. Have to get out of here because there is a biting bug somewhere inside. Time to spray again.
  • Hello ladies,

Don't know if i'm ready to go back to work or not, but i'm going. I've been home for 9 days....Today i was finally up for getting out of house. Went to Wally world to stock up on fresh fruit and juice. I have never had bronchatis and i definitely don't like it.

Shad - hope you got that bug.

Laura - how far do you ride your bike to the train station? I wish my train station was closer. I don't know why i said that, i can't see me riding my bike to station and getting to work all hot and sweaty.

Happy - Hope you got your closets cleaned out. That's going to be one of my winter projects.

Mel - hope you got your silent sunday.
